    Women internalize their poor self-image and become self-abusive.
    (to punish themselves?) Prostituition is typically a form of
    self-abuse.

    Serial killers are called sociopaths and typically have a diagnosis
    of Antisocial Personality Disorder. The common origin of this disease
    is early, extensive abuse and neglect. Almost all are male. 

    As you have noted, most (the vast majority?) prostitutes have a history
    of early abuse. 
    There is a 'female' disorder called Multiple Personality Disorder. Its
    origins are early extensive sexual abuse. (i would speculate that the
    frequency of MPD among prostitutes would be astonishingly high; i have
    the impression that the frequency of prostitution among female MPDs is
    high)

    I find it of interest that the psychiatrist Hervey Cleckley (Three Faces of
    Eve" (MPD); The Mask of Sanity (psychopathic personality or APD) has
    extensively studied these two seeminly diverse disorders.

    Few male MPDs are found in society. 

    I have extrapolated the above info to characterize APD as a 'male
    resolution' of early childhood trauma, and to characterize MPD as a
    'female resolution' of early childhood trauma.

    Frank Putnam, M.D. author of Multiple Personality Disorder speculates
    (albeit on solid ground, and with vastly more authority than I) that the
    reason few male MPDs come to the attention of medical people is that most
    of them are in prisons. He suggests that the 5:1 - 9:1 female to male ratio
    comes from the premise that male MPDs become sexual abusers and don't
    typically come to the attention of medical authorities. He also notes that
    (in limited studies) the frequency of MPD among incarcerated sexual abusers
    is much higher than the general prison population.

    He suggests that the gender anomoly might be attributable to 

    	a)male/female differences in learned behavior (act out vs internalize)
        b)after allowing for sampling error, perhaps the female:male ratio
          of MPDs is much closer to 1:1

    there are significant differences between those who are "more
    comfortable with S" and those who are "more comfortable with M"? If

Most "prostitutes" who are "active in S&M" are dominant (I use the term
"prostitute" loosely because many professional dominants don't actually
have sex with their clients.)  Whether this is because they are 
"more comfortable with S", or because being a prostitute and allowing
yourself to be tied up, dominated, etc is highly dangerous and therefore
to be avoided, I can't speculate.

     what does S+M mean?    I figured out SWF + SWM etc....but not S and M
    
    

    and i think that SWM & DWF were intended to be a tongue in cheek play
    on words of 
    		Single White Male and Divorced White Female 
    transposed to somthing like
                Submissive White Male and Dominant White Female
