Do any of you ever hear non-DECcies use "PC" or "politically
correct?" Seems to me that it's only here at work that I hear
this [very overused] phrase.

I read it in Soj quite often.

hmmm...does that mean we're all birkie wearers? ;')

Many of my non-DEC friends use "PC". In fact, two of them publish
    a "fanzine" entitled POLITICALLY INCORRECT.

"Soj" - "Sojourner" a (radical?) feminist magazine (newspaper?)
published back east somewhere. (Guess I don't really
know that much about it! ;-)

"birkies" - Birkenstocks, a popular natural materials footwear,
                of type sandal.

PC - meaning adhering to the principles of whoever is using the
term. Usually used by left-of-center types. A variant of the
    'argument from intimidation'.

PC -

1) Adjective. Meaning someone whose ideals and opinions you disagree with if
you happen to be to the right of the person you disagree with.
Typically said in a derogatory fashion, impling that the other person
doesn't have a mind of their own and follows a perceived left of
center line. Usually used by right-of-center types.

2) Adjective. Property helpful in securing physical relationships
with womennoters (according to right-of-center types). ;-)

re .7, I agree with your first definition of PC. I haven't decided on
    the second one yet. :-)

In my experience, "Politically Correct" is one of those phrases
that's rather ambiguous. Some people use it to mean what is
"Liberal-ly" correct, eg. it's "politically correct" to support
gay rights, while others use it to mean what is taken to be
"Conservative-ly" correct. Thus, the aforementioned friends of
mine who proudly brandish their "political INcorrectness" in much
the same manner as those of some years back who would proudly
claim to be part of the "Immoral Minority".

re: last several

Yup, I've heard the various arguments about what it means, and
I've seen it used by people of various political persuasions.

I was just wondering if people heard it used much by people
who don't work at DEC.

Maybe it's time to move on to a new phrase? ;-)

Anyone got one?

A question and a comment for E Grace regarding her entry in (I believe) 6:

Intertel is like Mensa, except that, instead of an I.Q. in the 98th
percentile, it has to be in the *99th*.

Like I said, it is nothing I accomplished with hard work or dedication.
However, after all those years of my father saying "(insert heavy
sarcasm) Gee! How did two *dummies* like us ever get a *genius* like
you?" and after years of my ex-husband telling me I was "f*****g
ignorant", it's nice to know they were wrong!

Plus, I'm trying to learn how to allow myself value, rather than
    devaluing myself.
