"My Castle's Rockin'" -- Alberta Hunter
	...anything... -- Billie Holiday
"Born on a Friday" -- Cleo Laine
"Come On to My Kitchen" -- Robert Johnson
"Daydream" -- Ellington/Strayhorn, played by Ray Nance
	"Round Midnight" -- Monk
	"Lonely Woman" -- Ornette Coleman

A special nod, especially in light of where this is, to
Cleo Laine's latest release, "Woman to Woman". It's a
collection of songs, all with words and music by women.
Who remembers now that standards like "Close Your Eyes"
and "Willow Weep for Me" were composed by women? (Or for
that matter, who remembers Grace Boland, the talented
and inventive ragtime composer?) I'm hoping Cleo will
perform some of the cuts when she's in Boston for the
	Globe Jazz Festival.

	Re. 33 and New Age

My friend Steve and I composed and played it
in college ('71-'73) before the term was coined.
He realized it was back at about 30,000 feet,
somewhere over Iowa while reading a magazine,
and decided to get back into music.
Now he's released his first CD.

I've found a new favortie. "I need a younger man to drive away my
middle age blues" by the Uppity Blueswomen.

My favorite line from the song

"Who needs experience? I want potential".

I've also found Tim Buckley's "Greetings from LA" on CD. There must be
a lot of us wierd Buckley fans out there. I was surprized it's been
rereleased. Can't wait till it gets in to hear "Sweet Surrender" again.
That song makes me melt. ;*} liesl

I just saw an attractive, short-haired blonde woman singing a song
that is probably titled "You Win Again". She was shown singing as
"Entertainment Tonight" rolled their closing credits.

I'd like to buy the recording that has that song on it, as soon as
    possible!

RE .57 - yep, that song gets turned up to probable illegal levels
when it comes on while I'm driving. She's a country singer - I saw
her at the Philadelphia Folk Festival last summer.

Wow, thanks! She looked different! And I didn't recogise her voice,
either, so I'm listening to her "State of the Heart" recording right
    now to refresh my memory.
