293.0. "Spring Fever attack..." by WATNEY::SPARROW (You want me to do what??) Thu Apr 23 1987 21:44

dispite my upcoming surgery, I have a SEVERE case of spring fever.
I feel like standing in the sun, with my arms outstretched and just
soak in the healing rays....(the security guard came out and asked
me if I needed an ambulance)
what is everyone else doing out there to get rid of some of this
    massive quanitity of energy?
Is there any thing that helps work work????

I have painted my apartment (my landlord freaked out, he didn't
even have to pay for it), shampooed my carpets, drove my daughter
crazy making her dance with me. Almost zapped my speakers on my
stereo with Mozart and waltzes, my neighbors complained they couldn't
hear their disco music, I clean my desk at work at least
3 times a day. I've been soooo happy and friendly to customers on
the phone, I think they think I'm on drugs. If I sit down for more
then two minutes, I'm scanning looking for something to do.
I'm wishing *everyone* a good day, I think they are going to throwup!
this is the first week we have had *pure* sunshine all week and
    I am truely going NUTSO!!!!!!!!

So, whats new with the rest of you out there????

    vivian

Well, I don't know about anybody else, but I've been burning up
a lot of energy in notes. There hasn't been enough sun around here
to speak of this month, much less soak up!

But it is a wonderful feeling, isn't it?

My tech and I have a **horrible** case of spring fever, but when
    spring refuses to happen...

No sun. Cold, and no sun. NO FAIR!!! If I wanted this kind of
weather, I'd spend the winter in Europe. I feel like going on strike
    until the powers that be determine that New England should be sunny;
every day when I wake up and see that its going to be another bleah
day, I will turn over and sleep through the day.

For me, no sun = no motivation. And you know when it comes out
I won't want to stay at work...

I want to open all the windows in my apartment and get the spring
cleaning finished, but I have to stay at work :(

Sunshine is due to arrive in New England tomorrow, and I didn't see many
clouds on the weather map so maybe it's a good sign... but don't chisel
that in granite...

The extra energy for New Englanders could be attributed to the
fact that it may snow at any moment so if the weather is good
    go out and enjoy it.

I guess I'm fortunate not to have any windows in my office, I don't
see the sunshine. After work, sometimes I go fishing or work in
the yard. I've been going out for lunch a lot lately. And we mustn't

I think any overseas visiters to the UK (South UK especially) at
the moment would faint -- not because of the extreme heat (although
it has hit the 70's) but because the Sun is actually shining. Sun
in April is almost unheard of (1911 is the last recorded warm weather
spell in April)..... we're used to April showers (or usually storms).
I understand Eire (Galway) is experiencing the same thing too......
    it's brill!

My suggestion is to get over to the UK as soon as possible, knowing
our weather we could be in six inches of snow tomorrow 8-}.

I off now to sit in the sun (lunchtime)........

This snow is TERRIFIC! I had my lawn fertilized this morning --
now the fertilizer can't blow away, and it can't wash away.

When the snow melts, I'll need a machete to cut my way out of the
    house.

But, the snow has drawbacks, too. My visiting Florida aunt is curled
up somewhere a a corner of the living room...

I enjoyed seeing the snow on the flowering trees this morning -- one
small compensation for all the hassle. It was also kind of strange
to see it snowing last night around 7:30 when it was still sort
    of light out.

I just hope the flowering trees didn't lose it altogether...

The people who are claiming they enjoyed the snow obviously did
not have their power go out at midnight last night and stay out

I remember spring. It's a beautiful season we once had long
    ago.

It seems to me that each year we get cheated out of spring
more and more. We go from cold and snow, to stifling (sp?)
    heat and high humidity!!!

Frankly, I prefer snow to humidity.

I'm with you, Alison. I haven't felt this good since sitting close
to the fireplace all last winter. Went to a huge indoor nursery
about a month ago (50 degrees outside), and they kept the place so warm
and humid, I thought I was in heaven!

The humidity really makes your skin feel good. A very humid 77-86
    degrees is perfect!

I like the weather too (except for the pollen count!), but my husband

I'm with your husband, Charlotte. When it gets this hot,
    	I kinda slow down.

I don't mind the heat as much as the humidity. High
humidity just saps my strength (what little there is).

I'd be satisfied if it never got above 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

293.36you get used to working in the heatCADSYS::RICHARDSONThu Jun 04 1987 16:4021
If you work out in the weather you get acclimated pretty fast.
I feel a bit sluggish for the first couple of days of hot-n-sticky,
    but after that I am OK - I don't have air-conditioning, so I get
acclimated pretty quickly even though it is cold in my DECcube,
and the heat doesn't bother me.

My FRIENDS, though, are getting "soft" as they all acquired
air-conditionning, etc., and won't come over any more even for parties
if it is hot out -- one year several people apologized for not coming
to the Great Ice Cream party (six hand-crank ice cream makers going
all afternoon -- great fun when fresh-peach season comes!) because
they couldn't stand the thought of being out in the heat, even for
    ice cream! Softies...

Really! Enjoy the warm weather while it lasts; you'll get used
    to it!

Of course, it is rainy, foggy, and NOT warm here today - had to
get my spring jacket back out! Oh, well, it is great weather for
all the stuff I transplanted over the weekend - I don't have to
    water it!
