130.0. "Watchdog/Autopilot question" by MLNORO::MALACRIDA () Thu Jun 05 1997 18:43

I've put the following note in DIGITAL_UNIX conference, but haven't
    had too much satisfaction...
Hope this is the right place to ask.
Is DECwatchdog/Autopilot still a product (or whatever we want to call
    it) that we sell?
Whith it I would like to setup an environment where two Peer Server
(SNA gateway software running on DU) are one in hot backup to the other:
there are nothing to share between the two machine (no disk, no
devices), just one of the two machine has to startup the Peer Server
software when it realize that the other has died.

    Thanks a lot,

    giovanni

Note 9985.0 DECwatchdog/Autopilot ??? 2 replies

This isn't probably the right conference where to ask but I couldn't
    find a better one ...

I was looking for a software able to watch if another machine is up and
running or just died, and to eventually start a recovery.
I found on the UNIX layered product (OCT '96) a product called:

    DECWATCHDOG/Autopilot for DEC OSF1

that seemed to fit my requirement.

Unfortunately it looks like this piece of software is no longer
    orderable.
Does someone know the status of this software? Has it been retired
even if it's still on CD? Is there some other software that can provide
    the same functionality?

Thanks for any info you can provide?

    giovanni
