198.0. "This is it, folks!" by HERIAM::BERNIER (Farm Boy) Thu Jul 15 1993 17:36

Tomorrow is my last day as a digit. I have no job lined up, no one has
even looked at our house, let alone made an offer on it; we have not really
looked for a new place in NY yet (need to sell our current place first).

So why am I so happy?

Because I am trusting in God and in His leading. Before me lays the
greatest adventure of my life. I would be scared stiff if Jesus wasn't
going first and if He wasn't holding my hand as He leads onward.

But He *is* leading and He *is* giving peace and comfort.

Oh sure, I can see the tests and trials straight ahead but that's
okay. He'll get us through them all. Besides, do you think that I'm gonna
turn back now just because Satan is gonna try and make problems for my
family? We have received this calling from God and have been praying
and preparing for this for almost 7 years. Besides, if I were to
chicken out, how could I ever face Him again?

No, there's no turning back now. The only thing I can do right now is
trust and pray and trust and pray.

I suspect that God will use the time between now and the move to a NY
farm to work on my character. It seems He never waists an opportunity
to make me a little more like His Son.

Oh, to be more like Jesus! *This* is my real heart's desire, not
milking goats and cuting hay. It excites me to know that He is going to
use a vocation that He chose for me going to be an instrument that
He uses to shape me and mold me to be more like my Lord.

Dang! I'm getting excited just thinking about it!! How wonderful God
is!! I get to have fun farming and He has to do the real hard work of
leading me and my family, and He has the tremendous task of conforming us
    to the image of Jesus.

And all we have to do is trust and obey.

The only sad thing is that I'm going to really miss you all. I wish I
could take you all with me. This parting only makes me long for Heaven
all the more, where I can meet you and not have to say goodbye.

I love you. God's blessing be upon you.

    Gil

God be with you Gil -- I haven't read anything in this file for ages,
logged in yesterday though, and decided I could never catch up when
I was 6,789 notes behind so I did the set/unseen trick, voila, just
in time to see your note & be able to say good-bye today. I hope that
after you move you'll keep in touch through Lisa L or Dave B or somebody.

It's good to "hear" you so excited about the future. God is good.

    Gil,

God bless you and your family! You are an inspiration to us all
and you are possibly only a little ahead of a few who will be
    following!

I will keep you and your family in my prayers. Please let us
    know of your great adventure!

    Peace of Jesus,

    Mary
