639.0. "I feel I need to leave my footprint" by NOVA::ONG () Thu Dec 01 1994 17:24

I've been reading this notesfile for almost a year, but seldom writes any.
However, I feel the need to leave some indication that I was here with you
all along. Today, I officially become a new employee of Oracle, as part of
Rdb sale deal.

As I've been reading and seeing people leaving these few years, I always
wonder when it's my turn to be, and how I would feel like. When it really
happens, like today, it's a very different feeling from what I expect.
As all know already, we're still driving to the same building, sitting in the
same office and doing the same type of work and projects. On top of that,
I'm still able to read all the note conferences, and read e-mail. OF COURSE,
changes will come down the line in the future, but it won't be as dramatic
as those which other people went through. I like to express my thanks and
praise to the Lord for this situation.

I also like to thank Mark (I met once in his office) and others for their
contribution to this notefile, from which I receive much benefict. I also
like to pray for Mark, and pretty sure the Lord will open up the way.

I'll still be browsing thru here as long as we're allowed to...I enjoyed
your sharing in here!!!

I sincerely wish good luck and success to you and your company.

God bless you

mike

Thank you for your encouragement, Mike.

I am a bit troubled (dealing with feelings of resentment) by it, but I
also firmly know that I am in Good Hands and will be taken care of and
I invite you all to watch what the Lord will do for me. What? I
haven't a clue. I no longer ask to know the specific. I have asked
for assurance, and more than once *significant* indicators of assurance
have mercifully come my way. Regardless of my current and changeable
emotional state, God is Good and has been extremely faithful and
unfailing in his grace. Many others are going through straits that are
more dire than my situation, like Greg and Leslie Johnson, Mark Lovik,
and Collis Jackson. God will be glorified in their experience as
well, but I can tell you it is VERY difficult for some of these people
to get through to the other side. Lord, help us to learn what You
have for us, and to be refined as gold, according to Your loving
    kindness and mercy.

    Mark

    Mike,

Thank you so much for leaving your footprint! Mark has inspired me,
guided me and cared for me over the last few years in a way that only
the Lord could have ordained. He has been a friend through struggles,
through conflict, through joys and triumphs.

Thank you for reading, sharing and letting us know you ARE there.

    :-)

Thanks from me, too, Mike! Just to see the vapour trail (as PDM might have
said ;-). Though Nancy's footprint is more down-to-earth for the rest of us!

May God richly bless your days to come, browsing or not...

My footprints are also leading away from Digital. I've been with
the company for more than 6 years now, but need to return to family
in Arizona. My last day at Digital will be this coming Friday (12/9).
I will be moving to Phoenix, Arizona in January. I've in-laws and
family in the Phoenix and Tucson areas. I've enjoyed my work, friends,
and the countryside here, and will be leaving with many good memories.

I've mainly been read-only in this conference and would like to
encourage all you contributors to keep up the good fight. Your
words may reach further than you think. The discussions within
this conference have done a good job in showing the difference
between a committed and dedicated Christian and those who are not
(including those who are non- or anti-Christian).

My biggest disappointment with many churches today is that they fear
'offending' people, or society, and so change doctrine to match society's
whims. Show love and compassion, yes. Reach out and nurture, yes.
Pray for and seek new ways to minister the Word, yes. But throw away
the Truth? No! It is that CHRISTIAN has held firm to the Truth which
has given me the most encouragement. May your light continue to shine!

Thanks to you all for your contributions and especially to Mark Metcalfe
for his patience and correspondence. In one of my first notes to Mark,
he described himself as a bull dog in his tenacity for pursuing the Truth.
I still think of him as a sheep dog, helping the Good Shepherd to keep the
flock together.

In Christ,

Otto

Go with God, Otto. Maybe you can visit Calvary Community Church
    sometime once you're back here.

I didn't realize Otto worked in the same facility as I do
and we had the chance to meet the day before his last day.
We both had our fab 'bunny suits' on though!!!

It was quite a blessing and I think God ordained it, but
it was also a loss having personally met someone who is
now no longer working here. Such a blessing to meet people
      personally.

Mike, I recommended for Otto to give you a holler. I hope
      he does!
