587.0. "News of former noters" by ICTHUS::YUILLE (Thou God seest me) Wed Sep 28 1994 07:25

I came across news of Ann Arno, who started chit-chat, way back, and it
didn't seem quite right to put it under 'prayer requests' or 'praise',
though there are aspects relevant to both. I thought that as we have
'intro's and 'welcome's, it would be nice to have a 'news of former noters'
note too. So this is it! For attention of those about to depart, as well
as those who have already gone, and those who are in touch with former
noters...

Subj:	for those who know Ann Arno...

I ran into her today at Kimball's ice cream farm in Littleton, MA.

She got laid off a few months back, and has taken the summer off
(up in Maine) before looking for another job.

BUT... the big news is... her "special friend" of the past three
years, Dan Moore, proposed on August 4th (her birthday). And,
she said yes!! ;^) The wedding date is set for next June 17th,
in Millbury, MA. The slight damper on the joyous mood is that Dan
is currently looking for work too... but they both believe they
will be able to find something before too long.

ANYWAY-- I offered to pass along howdy's to folks for her and she
jumped at the chance to say "Hi" to everyone she knows back inside
these corporate walls. If you would like to call her to offer
congrats, etc., she gave me her home # to pass along:

	508-692-6087

I told her if she ever gets Internet access again to let me/us know!

I think that's it... it was great to see her again.

Great to hear this positive news!

was my wedding day too. :-)

      Hi,

Yeah, thats great to hear about Ann! She worked in the
mailroom here in the Hudson facility last. I didn't
realize it was that long since she was gone.

One person I kept in contact with just a little bit is
Lee Lafferty. Nowadays, he's living near Louisville
Kentucky. I talked with him a few months back. He's going
        to college there.

I also talked with Irena. We're gonna try to get together
soon. Her youngest son Andy got married recently.

I've got Charly Johnson's number. I should give him a call.
Are you there Mark? Me and Charlie had some pretty looooong
        Sabbath 'conversations' years back!

I haven't heard from SW [Ken Hopkins] since June... but in June his
wife was graduating with her degree from college and he was starting a
    church in Mountain View!

Anybody else hear from SW more currently! Need to get his number and
    call him. [insert feeling guilty]

A man visited our church tonight, and after the service I went up
and started talking to him..he asked me a question about the pictures
of missionaries, wondering if they were folks which our church had sent.
I explained that they were missionaries we support each month (total of 35
as of now)..he pointed to a picture of a family we support in Guatamala, and
mentioned that his sister and her family are missionaries in Guatamala..I said
Hey!, I know of someone who is a missionary in Guatamala! I asked his sister's
name.."Josephina Estevez", he replied.."Josie?", I asked. "yes" he replied!!

I explained that I had never met her, but knew her through..and he said
"notes?" ;-) Yep, I said ;-) What a joy it was talking to him, and having
him in our service..his other sister's kids go to Victory Christian School,
which is at our church...He just returned from visiting Josie, and said all
are doing fine...I receive a newsletter from her occasionally..

Hey, that's GREAT, Jim!!!!! Praise the LORD!

Give us some snippets from the prayer letter as convenient, too, Jim, for
prayer and interest...

I can sort of imagine bumping into people in heaven, and finding how God
has used us to touch each other in life, though we never met physically....
It *exciting*...! ;-)

Hi Guys,

I hope this works.

I will be involved with a workshop next March for Christian in the Workplace
with Kim Hawtry. Is anyone interested from CAW? I'm sorry I don't have more
info at this stage.

Best Regards

Subj:	GREETINGS TO ALL THE DECSAINTS

Hi James. It's me again.

Could you please pass this message to the Christian Conference. Thanks.
        -----------------------------------------------------

Hellooooooo, all of you DECsaints around the world! Long time no see you.

It's me - real me! Unfortunately I am not in DEC, I was foolish and left the
best company in the world. But thank God I found the way to communicate with
you again, courtesy of brother James, who is still with DEC.

I just want you to know that I am well and still serving the Lord and I still
love you all. I am still with Renata (of course - what God has united no man
will ever separate) and in addition to Jacob, who is now six and Esther, now
four, we had another boy, Daniel, who is two years old.

I greet you all in the Lord and hope to find you in good shape and burning with
zeal for the things of God.

Please, if any of you care, aknowledge that you are still there. Brother James
will be kind to forward your messages to me. Or, it may be more convenient that
you send your message direct to me:

        us1rmc::"georgep@research.canon.oz.au"

May God bless you all.

Yours in Christ,

George Potkonyak.

Thanks for the updates, James. Good to hear from George and Graeme, and
feel we're still in touch, even if remotely! Please pass back my
greetings. I have noted their network addresses for future use.

My name is Holly Fleurent, and like Josie Estevez I am, well was a
"read only". I had the privilage of working with Josie here in
Treasury - and spoke with her just last week. Josie was telephoning
from Guatamala, so the telephone connection was bad. She mentioned
that the twins had adjusted to life there and they had many visitors to
the camp, but only one family visit from her brother. The Estevez
family will complete there missionary assignment in February. Josie
wanted me to say "hello" to all of her Christian fellow noters.

I will update you when I hear where she will be heading from
    Guatamala.

Welcome back for whatever amount you can participate.

In case you haven't had recent updates from Steve & Irena:

We had dinner with McConnells a few weeks ago and they were doing well.
Sue is not working for a salary anymore and is enjoying it immensely, and
Steve has a new, non-Digital job which is keeping him busy. Their
musical efforts are still wonderful, and we got a mini-concert while
we there of some of Steve's original material, and some that Steve &
Sue had written together.

We had dinner with Irena and Karl Pulkstenis this past weekend and they're
doing pretty good though Karl's contract position in Connecticut is over
with and he's looking for something new. Irena is doing some administrative
work in rehab center, and also doing some craft work on the side. They have
a new grand-daughter which makes them happy and pleased.

Greg was layed-off from Digital in June, but now has a new job in Rhode
Island so we're working up the courage to put the house on the market and
look into moving a bit closer to his new job.

587.20News from Paul Elford...ICTHUS::YUILLEHe must increase - I must decreaseThu Feb 22 1996 08:0577
From:	NAME: Paul Elford <ELFORD.P@rdingcol.demon.co.uk@umc@VALMTS@VBO>
To:	andrew.yuille@reo

Greetings to all my brothers and sisters within the Christian
community at Digital.

I was thrilled at the prospect of being able to communicate with you
all once more, courtesy of an e-mail facility provided for me
with the compliments of a local college where I am currently undertaking
a 2 year part time course. If any would like to communicate back
to me I will give you my e-mail address at the end.

To say that I have missed the fellowship of the Christian conference
since leaving DEC at the end of 1994 is a major understatement
all of you were, and still are, very precious to my heart.

Special greetings (assuming that you are still with the company!) to
Andrew, Nancy, Ben, Karen Jennison, Leslie Ann Johnson,
Sylvain (I know he's left, but if anyone should be in touch please pass my
greetings, and remind him just who got the Chit Chat 25000 snarf on
12th December 1994 - a golden day for the U.K.!!!), Jim Henderson,
Karen Mossey, Bob Grover..... and all those of you who I haven't
mentioned but have been of encouragement to me - the LORD knows
who you are, and will reward you.

You may recall in the Goodbye topic (see note 33.87) in December 1994
that I referred to an incident in C.S. Lewis' Last battle, saying:

"I too face the prospect of peering into a darkness, entering the
darkness not knowing when a door will open leading the way out,
but I know that once in the darkness, God will presence himself in his
own special unique way"

As yet, now 14 months on I have still not been able to find another
job, despite approx. 280 applications of one sort or another,
and 13 interviews. In spite of this, I can confidently give testimony
that my original comments have rung true. God has indeed presenced
himself with me and the family during this time in ways which I would
had not thought possible. Not only have we been supported wonderfully
by God's people in both tangible and spiritual ways, but
most of all God has kept my heart and soul peaceful and my mind clear to
continue with the job search unabated.

			TO HIM BE THE GLORY

I read the following this morning, and it seemed somewhat
appropriate, and it may be a blessing to some of you:

Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love,
break up your unploughed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord until
he comes and showers righteousness on you.

     Hosea 10:12

Those who sow in tears will reap with songs of joy.
He who goes out weeping carrying seed to sow,
will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him.

     Psalm 126:5

I will stop here for now - my thanks to Andrew for being willing to
post this for me. I might correspond with you again from time to time
(Andrew permitting of course - I take nothing for granted!).

Please feel free to contact me at any time at any of the following:

e-mail: elfordp.rdingcol.demon.co.uk
(no, it's not a satanic Internet provider, just in case you were wondering!)

address: 7 Appleby End, Watermead, Reading, Berks. RG30 2NR England

telephone: (01734) 542412 (This is a new number as from Jan 1996)

Much love to you all,

Paul Elford.
