        Hi,

We've a case need PCI-VME adapter on Alphaserver which runs
    UNIX,
I've checked the SPD 61.54.02 (Digital PCI-VME adapter driver,
    Digital
UNIX, Version 4.0), according to this SPD, if we order a PCI-VME
adapter (DWPVC-BA) this driver is included.

But the point is : according to this SPD, which Alphaserver
    4000,
Alphaserver 2100A 5/300 are NOT SUPPORTED processors, that are the
target machines we purpose to customer.

The last update date of this SPD is Dec. 1996, is the status
    has
changed ? if not, when will the above models are supported ?
        TKS in advance.

        Rgds,
        Allen Chen/Digital Taiwan/2-13-'97

You'll want to check with the folks over in the Digital UNIX notes
conference, or contact the Digital UNIX Product manager directly.

You'll also want to look around for variant releases and associated
SPDs, as there are variants of most of the recent UNIX releases,
each often adding support for new hardware and new systems.

        Allen,

Support of the Bit 3 PCI-VME adapter (DWPVC-**) is as
    documented
in the December 1996 SPD you listed. There are a couple of
    additional
systems to be added to the supported list based upon recent
    testing.
I expect a revised SPD will be forthcoming in the late March/early
        April timeframe.

However, the AlphaServer 2100 5/300 hasn't been qualified yet
because we don't have one to test with. As for the AlphaServer
    4000,
the DWPVC product will not be supported on that platform. The
    product
positioning is that it will be sold on low-end AlphaStation
    platforms
and low-end AlphaServer platforms up to the 2100A. We plan to be
    selling
a PCI32-VME64 interface on the AlphaServer 4000's up through the
AlphaServer 8x00 platforms. Other configurations can be custom
    quoted
(and locally supported) but most likely will never show up in the SPD
    as
        supported.

        Regards,
        Kevin

P.S. There is a conference on ADISSW (ADISSW::VME) dedicated to
    VME
              adapter products.
