470.0. "Parking lot E" by DRAGN::BOURQUARD (This is not here) Fri Feb 28 1997 13:08

Why is there yellow tape along the trees bewteen the 2 parking areas in Lot E?
I thought that maybe they were going to use the end lot for trucks during the
Oracle move, but that's today and the lot is still open. There are also
"Do Not Enter" signs and barricades ready to go up.

Well, the far end of lot is closed today. No clues (except for this note)
as to why. I was thinking they should wait until the next time they close
the ZK2 bridge...

I hadn't heard an Oracle moving date. I also don't see how closing that
portion of the lot helps them do the move. Its not at any doors for
loading things.

If they're moving out, can I stop hearing rumors of downsizing our cubes
so they can squeeze more people in this building?!

I heard that the facilities folks have contracted to have the
air handling units on zk2 replaced. This requires a crane to
do the work. The parking lot (my guess) is needed to bolt
together a large crane to reach the roof of zk2.

RE: .3

Now there's a resonable explanation! This morning I thought it was a
lot compression exercise. If it were left open there would be plenty
of spots for everyone and no illegal parking. Now, with that lot closed
even with Oracle out of the building things are just like they've always
been! :-)

Of course not. Now we have to make room for the rest of the MKO people.

Geez, where did I get all this cynicism?

That date appears to of been this past Friday. At least
that's the day they moved all of their hardware out of the
	ZKO2-2 lab.

Note that you'll eventually get even more room in ZKO2-2
when we (ObjectBroker) eventually move to our own
	building (or rented office space).

The last one to leave ZKO2-2, don't forget to turn out the lights!

That's what some Oracle friends told me, that they were moving (this past)
Friday. It's been suggested that we not go visit, we'll get jealous.

From:	NAME: Site Services <SITE@A1@SALES@PKO>
To: See Below (Distribution List Truncated)

From: James Dirico, Facilities Customer Service

Contracts are now in place for Phase II of the ZKO Mechanical upgrade, and
the retrofit of the entire office area in ZKO2-1currently occupied by Oracle.

Access to ZKO2-1 will be completely restricted from March 3 through May 9.

The preliminary work will start within the next few days. We anticipate some
minor disruption which may cause you to take a different route to your office,
we will be distributing notices as necessary on any disruptions; we will make
every effort to keep these to a minimum.

For those of you that work off hours and weekends you may experience some
noisy periods due to slab cutting and new wall construction.

We have identified two weekends, April 12-13 and May 2-3, that site access
will be completely restricted, except Saturday evening from 10:00 PM to
Sunday 5:00 AM and Sunday evening after midnight. Access to the site will
be closed off at the Digital sign on Tara Blvd.

We are looking for your cooporation to expedite this project, as there is a
very short time window to complete the work scheduled for these weekends. Any
disruption to the schedule may result in delayed access on Saturday and
Sunday evenings. We DO NOT anticipate power disruptions to the labs during
 these two weekend site shutdowns.

We have also identified sections of parking lots in ZKO1 and ZKO2 that we
will be staging materials and trailers for this work, we will cordon off
these areas and ask for your complete cooperation in staying clear of these
areas. This project is scheduled to be complete in mid May.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation, please feel free to contact me
 directly with questions or concerns.

 Regards,

The ZK2-1 office areas will be cut to 7x10's office cubes to
make more room for offices...I believe go from 235 to 280 or something
like that.....ZKO seems to be the place everyone in NH wants to move
    to when MKO closes..

Even shorter this time, take a look at the bottom of .8, it
	says:

MKO folks wish to come to ZKO? Too close to "RETAIL CENTRAL"? ;-)

Note that for many contractors, "off hours" begins at 5 pm. I expect that
a lot of people are going to be exposed to this noise. I also expect there
will be a lot of vibration. I hope someone is considering what this will do
to the disk drives in the computer rooms.

I just got it... Evidently Jim sent it twice -- once to MKO and once to ZKO.
(I imagine it takes Readers Choice awhile to send mail to that many people...)

.13> So, we are adding 45 more offices, eh? 45 more cars in the lot.

Tim...when those folks move in you'll think how EMPTY the parking lot looks
because, while we'll be adding 45 more cars, we'll also be getting the use of
the other half of E Lot back... :-p (Although, I s'pose, with the Oracle folks
gone, -maybe- we won't miss the space in the meantime...I dunno -- I got in
early today and I haven't been out so I don't know what the lots're like...)

My guess we only received it now after the other noter complained
to Jim and only then did he send it to "ZKO" residents. Seeing
they claim to of sent it 3 times, my guess is all along they've
been sending it to *only* MKO residents til the complaint was
	logged ....

See 471.4 for Jim's reply.

I replied back suggesting that this conference may be a reasonable method of
spreading the word about what's happening.

btw - I'm still thinking that lot E' is going to be used for the spare trailers
from MKO (they are putting the "construction trailers" in the far end of the
parking lot).

I asked the facilities folks if they could try sending it again. I got the
message via Reader's Choice at 16:38 Monday, and Jim followed up with a message
to me to verify that I had gotten it.

Its true that I see several trailers out there.

So why do they need an ENTIRE PARKING LOT for several trailers? Whatever
they plan to do hasn't begun yet, so why is the entire parking lot reserved?

Maybe they are very bad drivers? :-)

470.22TLE::REAGANAll of this chaos makes perfect senseMon Mar 10 1997 19:5312
As for the entire site restriction, I've heard this is for helicopters
to positions the new air units on the ZK2 roof and they are evacuating
the site just in case the copters crash into the buildings. Cool, eh?
    I'd pay to see that!

In addition, I heard that the contractor wanted us to completely empty
out the ZK2-3 lab of every single machine for several days so they
could gain total access to the mechanical stuff in the ceiling.
Fortunately, that isn't going to happen due to the major distruption
    that would cause.

What's the problem? I could live with a week's worth of days off on the
company!! As long as the weather is nice! Since I live across the street, I
suspect I will HEAR the helicopters. Maybe I'll walk over and watch...

Anybody else who sits in ZK2-2 wondering why the construction work isn't
being done on 2nd or 3rd shifts? Anybody not going home with a headache
every night?

This is really noisy!

2nd and 3rd shifts cost more? I'm in 2-3 and it's not too bad. They were
supposed to be done slab cutting a while ago.

Well, I just got back from 10 days' vacation, and they're still at it on

with the noisy part by now. Sigh...!!!!!
