1197.0. "Common Fluids? (for next tournament)" by PACKER::BACZKO (Gone Fishin') Mon Jul 17 1989 16:36

Well now that both summer tournaments have come and gone we should
start think about a Fall Extravaganza. Now please dont send hate
mail or call me names but to get everyone together once again should
we consider Monodonock???? Wait let me duck....
Is there any other lake/river that can accomodate both Mass & N.H.
residents? I looked at a map (low on detail) and saw a place called
Long Pond near Dracut. It is on the border but I am not familar with
    this lake does anybody know.

    Hey Les.
    Long time no Sea?
Long Pond in Dracut is just up the street from me. The public access
to this place is just about non-exsistant. Not a good spot.

What about the Merrimuck River. It runs both N.H. and MA. has very
good access in Lowell, and No. Chelmsford and contains Small Mouth,
Large Mouth, Carp, Shad, and Other varities.

Even I can catch fish for the River so it has to be good.

If you need a chart I can give you one you can make copies from.

Naw Les, I won't throw anything.......heck, I'd even fish Mono again
just because its the only place we all can get together. I enjoy the
getting together just as much as the fishing.....or lack of of ;^)

Anyway, sign me and the Back Deck Drunk up wherever it is...

    Ranger Ron

ps. The river can't be fished in BOTH states. You need a license and
registration for each state....its not dual state water. There is one
other lake (Long Lake or Pond) up near the northern boarder. I don't
know anything about it though. Maybe somebody else does.
1197.3Above Manchester NH it's clean, believe it or not!MOSAIC::MACINTYRETerminal AnglerMon Jul 17 1989 19:068
The Merrimack is a possibility. But "legally" the NH boats would have
to launch (and fish) upriver and the MA boats down river - with a
weigh-in/start in the middle. So, we wouldn't be really fishing the
same water - as we do in Mo-, you know....

But, never-the-less, the Merrimack is a possibilty...

THREE TIMES that I'd never do Monomonac again!!

But...like RR, I enjoy the get-together. I also agree that we should do it
in mid-September.

    INTERSTATE PONDS - Lake Monomonac and Robbins Pond, Winchendon;
Long Pond, Tyngsboro and Dracut; Bent Pond, Warwick; Tuxbury Pond,
Amesbury: Fishing permitted by persons duly licensed in Massachusetts
or New Hampshire. New Hampshire regulations apply.

The above is from the 1988 Abstracts of Mass. F&W laws. I don't
know anything about these 4 ponds - in fact I think I proved
conclusively last year that I don't know anything about Monomoniac.
At home, I have a Mass fishing map that lists species, surface acres
and launch facilities; I'll check tonight to see if any of the 4
are listed. Anybody know anything about them?

My better judgement says to stay away from Monomaniac but I'd be
willing for the sake of a get-together/mutual-skunking.

Les, I surprised you would even think the M word much less say (type)
it. .50 BMC rounds are good up to 2000 yards. I kind of like Don
Mac's suggestion. As far as Stumpfield, I refuse to submit my equipment
to that kind of punishment again. That place would make a great
shopping center some day. But let's see what shake's out on this
    issue.

1197.10What's so bad about lake Monomonoc?CPDW::ALUKONISWed Jul 19 1989 11:3514
Hey guys, as a resident of Winchendon, and an avid fisherman, I've got
to say that I'm surprised that so many of you guys think so little of
Lake Monomonoc. Granted, it's not the *best* bass fishing in the
state, but I can tell you that I've seen some really nice bass caught
in there. What seems to be the major complaints about lake M ? Besides
the water skiers and the residents who own V-8 inboard/outboards that
sound like a f-15 comming at you, it's really not all that bad a place
to fish. B-T-W the launch fee has goneup to $6.00 at the Marina, and
I don't think that there is any other launch on the lake. So it's a
little more challenging to fish lake M; what's the big deal?

I would WELCOME the opportunity to fish MoNOFISHmac....It seems
that the teams I am on in these tourney's have a REEL problem
of bringing in more than one keeper. From what I've read of
past tournaments on this lake....that could be in the money!!!!

Actually....the ALL encompassing get together overides the
fishing...especially in my case...when a skunking would only
    	be ONE LESS FISH!!!

    Les,
Well after spending $38 to registar my boat in NH.,paying $17
dollars for a one week fishing liscense, then find out you can
launch your boat on Winnie at a public dock, but can't leave your
car and trailer in the parking lot. Then have to plead with a local
Marine to let me use there dock all week long for $25.,and only
catch 2 fish all week,I vowed never again to fish N.H.
But I'm a gluton for more punishment. What the hay my boat
is now registered in both states so it doesn't matter to me. Maybe
I can still get something out of my investment into the state of
NH. Winne is an Awesome Lake though. Congrats on the Club tourney
at Quinsig, seems ever since you and I went out onto Singletary some
time ago, some of my skill rubbed off on you and you've been Golden

As co-holders of the Fall Classic crown, the team of The Harbormaster
and DONMAC would like announce that we will be more than happy to fish
the weary waters of Mo-OH-NO-monac in order to defend our co-title
(which we were nice enough to share with Fudge Factory Fletcher and
    Holeshot Joe).

We'd especially like to see the likes of that old has-been team, oh,
what were their names? hmmm... wasn't it something like Bassin' Gal

       Gary Gary Gary!!!!!!!!

When are you going to learn?? Icant believe your complaint
about Winni!!!!! I just spent the hottest week of the year there
and the temps did not I repeat did not affect the fishing. I was
trapped using shorline access only (no Boat) and I believe that
Winni is the SMALL MOUTH FACTORY OF THE NROTH EAST. They were hitting
everthing worms, grubs, rattle traps, gitzits, spinners. I did
not do as much fishing has I wanted but I got out for about an hour
each day minimum and would catch about 4smallies each day 2-3 pounders.
In fact one day this guy I met took me out in his boat we came in
with 8 smallies all in the 2 pound range. It took us about 1.5
hours. He was a chef and he cooked them babies up and they were
dam good. the 8 fish fed 4 adults and 4 kids WHAT A FEAST..

Any ways thank you N.H. for some great small mouth fishing.

I don't know RT... Collecting money ahead of time for food may be over
complicating things abit. If we did want to try and have some sort of a
cookout (which sounds ok to me), I think it'd be easier having folks
    fend for themselves.

And, we'd have to find a place to have it - I don't think that the marina
would appreciate a cookout going on in their backyard on a Saturday
afternoon - that would pretty much tie-up their launching and docking
    facilities.

I wonder if it's possible for us to use that beach again for a halftime

Well the only way to to keep a ringer out of this event is for
ME to stay home. 8>) 8>)

As far as running this fishless event I will have to step back.
It turns out our Canobie lake day is the same day. If I can talk
the wife to go by herself then I will assist at the check in and
    weigh in,
" Oh dear, wouldn't you really rather go with Carol and
her kids I will even sacrifice my ticket"

But... I won't know for sure what the story is for awhile. Didnt
John Easter say something about keeping a list. I promise to run
    the one on HARD water.
