444.0. "Worcester County Bassers" by VAXINE::BACZKO () Tue Aug 11 1987 16:55

    WORCESTER COUNTY BASSERS

Just thought I'd add this note about our club. We formed it
this year, we're affiliated with Mass Bass and B.A.S.S. of America
    (club # 4804).
Originally we had 14 members but only 8 of us have attended all
our tourney's. We have had tourney's on Singletary, Buffenville,
Quaboag, and Quinsigamond. Our next one is on Webster Lake. So
far the Quinsig tourney was the best. We fished from 8 P.M. to
6 A.M. with two weigh ins one at 12 midnight and the other at 6
A.M. I dont have the exact numbers but I would say about 40 lbs.
or better were caught that night.
We are looking for some serious Bassers that might want to join.
Boat owners preferably but not required. We dont want the ratio
of non owners to exceed owners. Right now we have Five boats and
    4 non boat owners.
We plan on having another night tournament before Sept. Does
anyone out there bass fish at night? This is the first time I did
and I couldnt believe the results.
Just thought I'd let everyone know we existed.

444.2CATCHING FISH IS A BONUS!VAXINE::BACZKOWed Aug 12 1987 15:399
NOPE, CATCHING BASS IS NOT A PRE-REQUISITE, JUST A BONUS. ALL
BUT ONE TOURNEY (THE ONE AT NIGHT) PEOPLE HAVE BEEN SKUNKED. I
OWN A CANOE BUT THEY WONT ALLOW IT (SAFETY I THINK MASS BASS RULES).
THE ONLY THING REQUIRED IS YOU CANT USE LIVE BAIT, AND THE BOAT
HAS TO HAVE A LIVE WELL, NO STRINGERS. ALSO ALL FISH CAUGHT ARE
RELEASED, SO WE CAN CATCH THEM AGAIN.

I didn't go to the UK. I spent two weeks on the French Riviera, Italian
Riviera, Switzerland and Paris. When I get a chance I'll talk about
fishing in Italy. I would have fished in Cannes and Nice and St.
Tropaz but couldn't take my eyes off the beach.

JUST A QUICK REPLY ON NIGHT FISHING. IVE NIGHT FISHED MANY TIMES
AND FOUND THAT IT IS A VERY PRODUCTIVE WAY TO CATCH BASS. MY FAVORITE
LURES ARE JITTERBUGS AND REBELS ON CARM NIGHTS AND PIG AND JIGS
OR SPINNERS WITH WIND. BLACK ALWAYS SEEMS TO BE THE BEST COLOR.
WE ALSO STARTED A BASS CLUB THIS YEAR N.E. B.A.S.S. ANGLING ASSOC.#4813
WERE BASED OUT OF N. CHELMSFORD MA. WE CURRENTLY HAVE 14 MEMBERS.

Just thought I would add my AMEN to night fishing. Down here in
Memphis this time of year the daytime temp. ranges in the mid 90's
with the humidity in the 80's to 90's so night fishing is the only
way to go short of enjoying frying your brain. A tip that I have
found works great down here is to use a 5 to 6" grub or worm on
a 1/4 ounce jig head and just swim it about 6" off the bottom. It's
similar to fishing the Do-nuthing worm, you can cover alot of water
in a short time. The last club tourny we had was a night tourny
and swimming a worm netted a first place win with 13 lbs. 10 ozs.
( 7 fish limit ). This type lure works best fishing rip-rap or
    points.

Most of my fishing has also been in the early evening into the still of the
night and I find it to be the most fun. There's nothing that cvan make your
blood boil and the adrenelin flow than a 4-5 pounder smashing a topwater
bait after dark!

And lately, the topwater fishing has really picked up on the lakes and
ponds up here in southern NH. With the cool evenings we've had lately and
the water cooling down, I'd expect the action to start picking up as ole
bucketmouth starts feeding to get ready for the winter months.

    Re. 15

    	Well the results are in!!

Both clubs showed up on June 26 at Lake Cochituate (sp) in Natick.
Worcester County Basser had 11 fishing and N.E.B.A.A. 8 fishing.
W.C.B. took their top eight weights at the weigh in. The Weather
was great and the fishing was even better, for some.

W.C.B. weighed in 32.7 Lbs. with Wayne Carlson bringing in
8.5 Lbs. on four bass with the lunker, 2.4 Lbs. Ray Tadry and Ken
    Kulp brought in 6 Lbs. (W.C.B), I caught 4 weighing 3.4 Lbs
N.E.B.A.A. weighed in 4.7 Lbs on 4 fish.

It was a GOOD TIME, we'll do it again next year.

Hay Les you should get the story straight with wcb.. They think
the beat the best DEC BASS FISHERMAN.. Wrong they beat YOUR club.
I know those guys, and I can make an eight man team of from dec
that would blow them out of the water..

Some of the Top Mass bass anglers work for dec all across the state.

Gey Bob what language is that. Got me all confused. The tourney
was WCB against another club. Not a DEC club. I was there. I am
a DEC employee as is LES and KEN and STEVE, the other team had
DEC employees and never said they were representing DEC. I would
take about half of what people say and through it out the window.
I would imagine their are just trying to get you going. I know DEC
has alot of good fisherpeople and I would say its because of this
note. (aren't I a diplomat?) So Bassin Bob put away your sleeping
pills and get a good night sleep.

444.26GET REAL bbSCOMAN::BACZKOFri Jul 08 1988 17:2629
    HEY BOB,
Get your story straight!!!!! The story was that W.C.B. beat
    N.E.B.A.A. or cant you read?????????
Both clubs have people from DEC, neither is a DEC club.

    	Now a challange!!!!!!

Sure let me talk to our club. If you fish like you did at
the Mass Fed tourny on June 12 it should be easy pickings.
Every member of W.C.B. out fished you, but then how hard is it to
catch more than .92 lbs of bass in 8 hours, uh, wait a minute,
wasn't that your partner that caught the only fish from your team??
Isn't he the newest member of W.C.B.???
The bottom line is this, our club got challanged, we accepted
we beat them, and NO, I repeat NO nasties were written about the
outcome, until YOU go and start something, we all had a good time
right Kevin & Jack?? But now bb has gone and set a spark under
me, almost has bad has the time you called me at my office and
told me HOW GREAT YOU ARE AND WHAT A GREAT FISHERMAN YOU ARE, AND
HOW YOU WOULDN'T WANT TO JOIN A CLUB LIKE OURS FOR THE LACK OF
COMPETITION, then why did 3 of your top members and the #1 basser
quit to start or join ours. Why dont your club challange ours?

    Les

P.S. apologies go out for me loosing my cool, except to bb.
          Not in my nature,

444.27I think I started a battle.HPSCAD::BPUISHYSBob PuishysMon Jul 11 1988 14:5813
It seems to me that the people who started (or joined)
your club did so, so they would not have any comptition
to make the 8 man team. You could
quote that from two of them who I would not mention.

AS per the .92.. it was .96 and I caught it.
If you notice it was WB members who won that tournament.
Any one can have a bad day.

    Bassin Bob

Oh and I did not notice any WCB in the top at the last Federation
event. But the 1st and 3rd place teams where from WB.
444.28exSCOMAN::BACZKOMon Jul 11 1988 16:0914
    bb,
Not many of our members fish the Mass events, only 1 or 2 do.
Next year I am sure more will fish the trail.

BUT..... the winner of the MASS State FISH OFFS and the captain
of the 8 man team to represent Mass in the divisionals IS a
    member of WORCESTER COUNTY BASSERS.

And as far as Competition goes, we dont play CUT THROAT. Information
on openly shared, and has helped all. We got 16 members and I
am sure that the 2 people you mentioned will make the 8 man team,
they are good and you know it too. Right now I am in first but
that is only with 2 of our 5 tounrys, I know I will make the 8 man
    team this year.

You folks are all lucky !!

When your a member of the biggest bass club in the state (55members),
a bass meeting is more like a town meeting. Lot's of budget issues
    and bylaw issues etc..
Making the 8 - man team becomes very tough when some of the best
anglers in the state are in your club.
Keep it small and remember, enjoy the sport !!!
