169.0. "Public Boat Ramps on Connecticut River" by LEDS::FONTAINE (Mr. Olsen, How many people work at Digital? Oh 'bout half) Wed May 06 1992 11:53

Looking for public boat ramps on the Connecticut river.
There is one under the Mass Pike bridge, anyone have
    	directions.

This state does such a fine job posting signs, it's hard
to believe the state depends on tourism. Most states have
welcome centers, Mass has rest areas with no facilities,
    	if they're open at all.

    	Thanks

The two use I are on the upper part of the river. One is in Gill Ma.
the other is in Northfield Ma. The one in Gill is the best one to use.
depending on were ya come from, take rt. 2 west (if youre from the
Boston area) and just stay on it till you come to it (its about 40
minutes from the westminster plant) Its right on the side of the
    Highway. cant miss it.

I forgot to add this in the last reply.....

Its called BARTONS COVE. and dont go near the island with the red
markers around it. You may get a visit from a friendly game warden.
There are a pair of bald eagles on the island.

Further south in Hadley, Ma there is also Mitch's marina
which has a very nice ramp and some facitilites...

Anyone have any info on the CT river further south, in the
Farmington, CT area? Specifically, Charter Oak Landing or someplace
river accessible to Charter Oak Landing? How about people/boat
accomodations?

thanks,

Rick
