I just found Bill's Hobby Barn II in Sudbury, MA. It's a spinoff
from their shop in Nashua. I had a good chat with Bill. He and his
partner work for Raytheon and have the stores as a side business.
The Sudbury shop isn't doing all that well, but he's hoping to drum
up more business. He does most of his volume in cars, but has aircraft
too. Not a lot of stock, but he had what I needed, and has several
kits, engines, & radios in stock. He said he's happy to order anything.

I have two places you can try: (in order of preference)

    1) Jim's R/C (About 20-25 mins from Nashua or Merrimack,
Rt 102, Derry NH right in Derry center town, not hard to find)
(Good prices and good selection, Tax free)

    2) Hobby ETC (South Nashua, exit 1 coming Rt 3 southbound)
Daniel Webster Highway (It is located in a mall strip called
Nashua, NH Lamplighter Square just opposite from

If you're going to be around Manchester, try J&S Hobby Center. The
    address is ...

	Joe Lacourse
	13 Sanborn Road
	Londonderry, NH 03053
	(603)432-7058

This is just off of RT28 next to the North School in Londonderry. This
is within a .25 mile of where RT128 splits off from RT28. He's got
some electric stuff (i've seen some props anyway), but his interest
is mainly 1/4 scale and other powered stuff. He runs it out of his
garage, parking is right in the driveway. It seems odd but i've found
that all of the best hobby (RC) shops are either in basements or
    garages...

There is a new store in Nashua, NH that is "opening soon" (this sign
has been up for almost 2 months now!!) called "Hobbies, Etc."

It is located on Rt 101A in the Greystone Plaze (across from Wendy's,
almost in Merrimack). They claim that they will have a complete line
of RC gear. But more importantly to you car people, they are going to
    have an indoor carpeted track.

As it still has not opened, I can not give any details to prices or
    how well they are stocked...

                         -< R/C RACEWAYS IN MARLBORO >-

I stopped by R/C Raceways last nite on the way home to check it out
    for R/C airplane related stuff.

When I went in there was a customer looking over a kit for an electric
plane (don't remember which one). Moments later I discovered that the
other customer was Dan Miner, who had dropped by to check it out too.

This shop has very little in the way of airplane stuff - a few kits,
almost no accessories. The good news is that Dan and I had a chat with
the proprietor and he indicated a willingness to consider stocking
airplane stuff. We promised him that if he did he'd get some business.
We'll have to keep an eye on this shop and see what happens.

He did seem to be pretty well stocked with car stuff, one of you car
folks will have to check that out.

8.2Santa Clara areaCTD024::TAVARESJohn -- Stay low, keep movingWed Aug 16 1989 22:00106
Just got back from our annual romp to Remember Why We Left
California, otherwise known as a vacation trip to the S.F. Bay
Area. Thought I'd make a few notes here for those going to DEC
Santa Clara.

First off, I stopped in at the San Antonio Hobby Shop. Immediate
culture shock. This was my first taste of the kind of selection
that a big city hobby shop can have -- I'll be commenting on this
later. San Antonio is not a discount shop, and I had better game
just down the road, so aside from a nostalgia trip and a quick
lookover at their incredible stock of new kits I left in short
order.

Next stop was PEC. I figured that since they were a manufacturer
(they're called Penn Electrical Co., but Penn International
Chemicals is in their back yard) I'd take advantage of the PEC
prices on CYA and bought a couple of 1 oz bottles at $3.88 --
slightly more than half of Phlyin' Phil's price. Scrounged
around a while more, still breathless over their selection and
left for the Big Time: Sheldon's.

Recently someone mentioned that they were out there and couldn't
find Sheldon's. I replied that it was because they were indeed
hard to find. Well, that was not the reason -- since I left the
area they've moved! And to a much better location. So for
posterity, here's the directions on how to get there from here:

If you're coming from the DEC Santa Clara office, take the
Milpitas-Alviso road (highway 237) to highway 880. Turn south
toward San Jose and go a couple of exits to the Mongague
Expressway offramp. Go east to the Old Oakland Road. Turn right
and go about a mile to Sheldon's, on the right side of the road.
Their address is 2135 Old Oakland Road. From San Jose, go north
on 880 to Montague. Bring money.

I don't think Sheldon's is the best hobby shop in the country;
their selection of kits is a fraction of Tower's. But they sure
make up for it with everything else! Now this country boy has
been 4 years in Coleraddy, happily paying (well, sort of) full
list at Phil's and other establishments, and making do with what
they have in stock. I forgot what selection and prices meant. I
wanted everything, but settled for some items that were way below
Phil's prices, like 9x6 props for .85 instead of Phil's $1.25 or
were completely unattainable here, like the blue exhaust stack
extension tubing. And Sheldon's price on CYA was even lower than
PEC's. Spent about $35, but saved at least $10 in the process.

I dunno, probably you Easterners have the equivalent of Sheldon's
in your area; I know that even Denver doesn't have anything like
that place. Do visit Sheldon's if you are out there, its well
worth the time.

Its not worth living there for, thank you! But Phil's is going
to be tough to take for awhile.

On the trip back out we spent a few days in Reno, the Greatest
Place In The World (I'm happy because I left the Nugget $30
richer, for once). Of course I made my hobby shop tour there
too. Visited my usual places and a few new ones, most notably
AMS Imports, 1110 Wells St., Reno. He has an ad on pg 251 of a
recent RCM. The place is better quality than the ad represents...

The owner is a very talkative fellow with a heavy German accent.
He imports most of the same stuff as Hobby Lobby, and being
unfamiliar with import prices for German ARFs and engines, I
cannot say if he offers better deals.

However, he did show me some interesting things. Note to whoever
is doing the ME262 project; he imports the German kit for that
plane; from the photo he had of the completed kit the model is
terrific. I know that this kit was recommended in the notes
about that project, but I don't think a U.S. source has been
identified before now. He also had a German ducted fan unit that
was nice. It has adjustable pitch blades on the fan to
compensate for whatever such things are good for; he mentioned
altitude. In the same vein, he has the German MIG-3 kit, also
very nice.

He showed me a new Aristo radio; a beautiful 4-channel PCM for
$185 or so. That one will blow the competition out of the water
for sure! One of the nicest jobs I've ever held, and without the
bells and whistles and shiny gingerbread that the others put on
their radios. I still like the Airtronics, but this is a very
nice 2nd best in my opinion. Now, if Aristo would just get
Airtronics servos for their gear!

Also worthy of note is that Aristo uses at least some components
that Futaba uses. If you look at the control sticks on both
Futaba and Aristo in the UP position (full back toward the bottom
of the radio) in the correct light, you will see a little blemish
on the center pivot that is exactly the same for both radios.
This was with one of the top line Futaba PCMs, which means that
Aristo at least uses a good supplier for their sticks...also, the
transmitter modules for both radios are exactly alike except for
labels and, he claims, interchangeable.

Has anyone tried to use Aristo rx/Futaba tx or vice versa yet?
The common tx module tells me that there is a good chance that
they will work together. Nice stuff for those Futaba owners who
want cheap additional frequencies and flight packs.

If you're going to the Reno Air Races this year, AMS is
sponsoring a model trade show. I suspect this one will be more
hooplah than substance, but if you're going to be in the area, it
may be worth seeing. Send me mail offline and I'll send you some
info.
8.3Custom Hobbies in Colorado SpringsBSS::WALKERRalph WalkerWed Aug 30 1989 22:007
I also live in Colorado and am new to the hobby. I am not familiar with
Phil's as I have been getting "stuff" through Custom Hobbies. I
haven't compared prices closely for CA or fuel filters but on the
radio, engine, and spare parts for my helis Jack(the owner) has
met and in a few cases beat the mail order houses. I would suggest
the next time you are in the market for a kit check with Jack I
think he'll make you a deal.
8.4Phlyin' Phil's Eagle's Nest in Colorado SpringsCTD024::TAVARESJohn -- Stay low, keep movingThu Aug 31 1989 14:2033
Yeah, those of us that go to Phlyin' Phil's shop do it for the
atmosphere, rather than the prices. Phil's shop is the Eagle's
Nest, located on Carefree in the shopping center there. It is
hidden behind the laundromat on the south corner of the building.

I compared Phil's prices with Sheldon's when I was in their store
a couple of weeks ago, and found that as far as the nickel and
dime items go, Phil was not that far off. His problem is that he
doesn't do enough volume to give low prices on the big stuff like
kits, engines, and radios. He has lately offerred to meet
Tower's advertised price if you put 50% down and can wait a few
days. Phil got a small computer from a Denver distributer, I
think, Royal, that allows him to do this.

Phil runs a post office in his shop, and he has commented that
this is what keeps him in business. The postal patrons take us
modellers surprisingly well...

Can't fault the man, no matter what he really thinks of me, he
always welcomes me in and is happy to talk shop.

I like Jack also, but you never see him at the field, nor do you
see his help there often (you do see them though). Jack is
always fooling with his computer when I go in, whereas Phil is
very often building something. I have to admit though, that Jack
has the best inventory and prices in town for most items.

BTW -- in the base note I mentioned a very talkative German
fellow in Reno...he sold Jack the software he uses in the shop.
Its a special program for hobby shops.

I have cards from a few shops in Denver that I like, make
yourself known to me and I'll pass you a set.

8.12Two More In ColeraddyCTD024::TAVARESJohn -- Stay low, keep movingThu Oct 12 1989 21:3660
Last week I took a day off and visited a couple of Coleraddy
hobby shops...

The first shop was Don's Hobbies (not Bob's as I reported a
couple of notes back, though there is a Bob's in Boulder. Next
pilgrimage) 815 10th Street, Greeley. You go up through Denver
past Mile-Hi and take the HWY 76 turnoff to Fort Morgan. From
there take highway (mumbley) to Greeley. Check the map; the
turnoff comes quickly from hwy 25 and Greeley is only announced
in small letters. How do I know -- I missed the effing thing and
had to drive to the next exit, double back to past the exit and
then take another run at it...helps to have a navigator.

Actually the ride is a bigger event than the hobby shop; at one
point there's Fort Vasquez, an old fur trading outpost from 1835,
sitting in the median! That's right, smack dab in the center of
the highway. Greeley is also a nice college town with all the
visual side benefits of same. Anyway, back to Don's.

Don's was established in 1962. It has 3 levels; the street level
has all the craftsy stuff. The RC stuff is in a loft just a
little smaller than Phil's place. Mercifully, they put the
trains in the basement.

Don has everything. I mean every little goodie that you could
want; the place is packed. But bring money, 'cause he don't take
American Express, and he charges full list. The big advantage of
the place is that since its been around for a long time there's a
lot of items at old list prices, and a lot of items that are out
of production. Such as, I picked up a couple of discontinued
plastic spinners with two screws on the outside for $1.50 (1
3/4-inch) and $1.95 (2 1/2-inch). And a case for my nuked Royal
mini servo for $2.50 -- couldn't find this in California, and so
forth. Nice place and a good excuse for a pleasant drive. How
far??? About 110 miles one way, but hey, I like hobby shops.

Nice place, but my son Frail Timmy started complaining that there
were no paints for his eggs (he paints religious scenes on
blown-out eggs and sells them to the tourists), so we left.

Next I swung past BK Discount Hobby Center, 2495 West Hampden,
Englewood (suburb of Denver). This place is very hard to find.
Hampden is a major street in south Denver, but as with lots of
Denver streets it gets broken up in several places. Look on the
map, its between South Bryant and South Santa Fe Drive, and
expect to miss it on the first pass. Do not confuse West Hampden
with Hampden; they are different streets.

I visited BK a couple of years ago and wrote it off as a flea-bag
operation. Well, I was wrong (surprise!). Its actually a pretty
fair store, possibly the best selection in Denver, though I would
still question the discount part. I picked up a couple of
German-made plastic 10-4 props that I've been looking for for
months ($1.50), and a few misc. things. Nice to know that you
don't have to pay $11.00 for a roll of monokote like you do in
you-know-who's shop (and the other one too). A must visit in the
Big City.

Also I revisited Colpar Hobbies on Havana -- still as good as
ever, but alas, not my favorite any longer.
8.16Chicago area hobby shopsPOBOX::KAPLOWSet the WAYBACK machine for 1982Wed Oct 25 1989 14:1528
There are lots of hobby shops in the Chicago area, including
        several good ones.

Stanton Hobby Shop, 4734 N. Milwaukee Ave. in Chicago is certainly
the best in the city. They have just about everything you could
imagine for RC, or any other modelling interest. I hit their balsa
rack often, the best I've ever found short of my basement.

Venture Hobbies, 747 W Dundee Rd., in Wheeling is my favorite,
maybe because it's closest "biggie" to where I live. Don just
expanded the place, doubling its size. Lots of RC stuff, planes,
boats, cars. Limited trains. The best plastic model selection
since the demise of Squadron Shop in Elmhurst.

I don't frequent Al's Hobby Shop, 121 Addison, in Elmhurst, as it
is a ways from me, but they might be the best RC supplier in the
        area.

Hill's Hobby, 10 Prarie, in Park Ridge is THE place for trains,
and is right next to the Northwestern tracks. They do have plenty
        of RC stuff as well.

Tom Thumb on Davis in Evanston seems to be more into skateboards
and RC cars, but has plenty of other stuff. I spent a lot of time
there back when I was a student at Northwestern.

I have a more complete list, but locals can check the yellow pages
and get the same info. Visitors would be most interested in these.

-

In case anyone is interested, there is a hobby shop in
Auburn n.h. that has really good prices. We were there
last night and my son bought a control rod for a $1.95,
which was $1.00 cheeper than the shop in Salem.

All he carries is R C stuff, it is called C&T Hobby.
the owner also runs a plane club.
They are having a show-sell-swap show on Jan 13th.

To get there, take 93 to 101 east take the exit for rt 28. Go south
for a couple of hundred yards to the traffic circle , go 3/4 of
the way around and follow that road for about 2 miles till you get
to a intersection with a store and post office. Go straight thru
for about 1/2 mile to a Y in the road. Taking the right goes to
the shop ( about 1/4 mile on the right) , straight across the Y
goes onto a dirt road, and a short distance up is a school, where
the show-sell-trade show will be from noon till 6:00 on the 13th.

Well, the only thing holding up my Panic is a muffler. I have an old Webra .61
on it and I need a legal muffler. I also have 3 other Webra engines that I could
use a parts supplier for so...

I called Hobby Dynamics and was referred to four area dealers who order Webra
stuff through them. I need help finding them and maybe some Email comments on
what people see as problems with these dealers.

    John,
I agree with Kevin, Bill's is a good spot, I
occasionally shop there. There is another very good
spot on Rte. 101A (Merrimack) on the road that goes
from Nashua to Milford. It's called Hobbies Plus, and
it is in the shopping mall, I believe called "Westgate".
It would be on the left (going Westward) immediately
following the Coca-Cola plant (on the left), and where
there is also an Ames store. It's in a corner location
out close to the street. They have an indoor track there
and what looks like a pretty good inventory of "Goodies".

I visited Bill's Hobby Barn in Salem, NH last Saturday. It's my first
time there. Bill was very friendly and helpful. He told me that he's recently
installed a new computerized point of sale system to keep track of his
inventory. He's intended to start three new programs and asked me to spread
the news:

1) frequent flyer program:
People who register their names at Bill's will receive a discount.
The program will keep track of your purchase amount and further discount is
available when you reach the gold or platinum level.

2) mail order to anywhere at discounted prices.

3) tell-a-friend program:
If you introduce a friend to Bill's place, you'll receive a gallon
    of fuel free.

For more info, call Bill or visit his place.

8.53New Hobby Town StoreCLOSUS::TAVARESJohn--Stay Low, Keep Moving!Mon Jul 23 1990 14:3534
Hobby Town, the north end hobby shop in Colorado Springs, has
opened a new store in the Citadel Plaza (the one with the
Wallymart).

As noted earlier, the original Hobby Town started as a real
Mickey-Mouse operation out of a small store front. When they
first opened, they seemed to be another one of those RC
car (no offense intended)/fantasy games/plastic airplanes stores
that come and go. Furthermore, it seemed to be a common
impression from the people that went there that the store owner
was a jerk.

But within a year they balanced out their stock, got serious on
RC planes, and expanded slightly into a fine store -- not first
rate, but fine.

Anyway, the new store is about twice as large and carries on the
same theme as the original store, which, BTW is still open and
going strong. The owner is at the new store...

Their prices are the same list that Phil charges, except that
balsa wood is ungodly expensive at Hobby Town, pretty much at
craft store prices. But then, Phil's prices for balsa rival
Tower's, so its really to Phil's credit more than Hobby Town's.

Also there is no ambience to either of the Hobby Town stores, it
seems to be just a job to them, though a few of the clerks can
talk RC cars with the best of them.

Despite my loyalty to Phil, I find myself going into Hobby Town
for things; plastic models, nickle and dime RC items, and joy
supreme, they're open on Sundays, so they cover a hole when I've
wrecked my model on Sunday morning and don't want to wait till
Monday to get the repair parts/wood.

Very good selection of plans and radios. They have some cars too.

It's a very good parts store. They sell parts for all of their stock

Last night I went to Tom's Hobby Korner for the first time. Neat
place. It's in the basement of his house, and it is packed to the
gills with just about everything you would want or need. I was
impressed with how much he stocks in such a small area.

While I fully expected to pay more than mail order for EVERYTHING he
sells, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that he sells some things
    for less than Tower.

True, his monokote is 11.70 compared to 6.99 from Tower when on sale,
and his planes and other major equipment are all 25-50% higher than
mail order, but his nickle and dime items, which can add to to BIG
bucks, were in many cases cheaper. I didn't do an extensive study, but
two items I bought, scuff guard and hinges, were less than
    Tower's price.

BTW, his place is dangerous to wallets, so if you go there, be aware
that your wallet will develop a strange tendency to reject any currency
    it contains before leaving. ;-)

8.65Hobby USA updateSNAX::SMITHI FEEL THE NEEDThu Nov 29 1990 16:1944
A few entries ago, I told of my first visit to the new Hobby USA store
is Westford. There were a few disappointments involved with that visit
and this note is intended to serve as an update.

First, I will not re-tell the details of the grand opening. Suffice it
to say that there was a problem with a channel 20 radio that I
didn't think was resolved in the proper manner. I was going to say you
could go back and read the original entry if you wanted to, but I see
it's been deleted which I wasn't aware of.

Anyway, after thinking about it for a few days, I decided to write a letter
the the Hobby USA franchise office detailing my concern for the way this
situation was handled. Let me say right up front that I WAS disappointed
I didn't take home a new radio, but I had genuine concerns for the APPARENT
disregard of the channel 20 issue and the problems it could cause.

Well, last Tuesday (a week ago Tuesday) there was a message waiting for me
when I arrived home. The message was to call a Mr. King at Hobby USA.
I returned the call and it turns out that one of Mr. King's jobs is to assist
new stores with their grand openings, and he was present at the Westford
store opening that Saturday. It also turns out that it was he, and not Jim
Howerton, the owner, who declined to exchange the radio for a non-channel 20
one on the shelf and insisted on giving THAT radio away as a prize. Jim and
his people were simply going along with the decision made by the "guy from
the home office".

I talked with Mr. King at length and he was very apologetic regarding the
incident and admitted to bad judgment. That sounds like kind of a nasty
statement "admitted to bad judgment", but it is not meant to be. He was
a man owning up to a mistake and I appreciate that very much. It also turns
out that Mr. King is not a flier which may have played a part in his decision,
meaning he was not familiar with flying issues.

The long and short of this whole note is Hobby USA's reaction to my letter.
I find that they took a genuine concern for the points I raised and were
more than willing to do something about it. They took the time to respond
to me personally and not just by mail. They allowed me a gift from the store
to make up for the mistake, and they are doing what they can to get that
channel 20 radio back. To me, anyone can sell you something. Anyone can
put something on sale and give you a decent price. What makes or breaks a
company is what happens when there's problems. That's when the true
mettle of a company shows through. In my opinion, Hobby USA went above and
beyond what was necessary and I would not hesitate to do business with them.

    12 Sherman St.

    Directions:

Coming down Rt 290 from the Marlboro direction towards Auburn you get
off at the Rt146 exit which puts you into the rotary. Cambridge St. is
the road just before Rt146 in the rotary. You go under the railroad
bridge and two streets up on your left is Pitt St. Go in Pitt and
Sherman is the back street parallel to Cambridge St. Take a left onto
Sherman and Ray's is in the brown three decker on the left surrounded
by a chain link fence. No sign but there's a card on the door and
modeling decals on the 1st floor windows.

Coming towards Worcester on Rt290 from the Mass Pike (Exit 10) you want
to get off at the College Sq. exit and get onto Southbridge St. At the
Second set of lights (I think) you make a right onto Cambridge St. This
corner has Polini's Bakery and an Indian resturant (Annapurna?) on it.
You go down a ways and on the right you'll see a bug church and Pitt St
is the right just after the church. Head in as above.

If you're in the area, it's worth the stop. Friday nights tend to be
busy with and active BS session in the front room and coffee and chairs
for participants. Several local clubs have impromptu meetings there so
there's area info available most friday nights for CMRCM, Worcester,
    Oxford, Brimfield, and Ware clubs.

for my son for $137 (which isn't great but is competitive). I've seen
it for $129 mailorder but I haven't seen a better mailorder price for
    the 347.

BTW: the X-347 price was with 507 servos, not the 517s that had been
shipping with it (and I don't know what the price difference is between
    the two servos)
8.73$40LEDS::WATTMon Mar 18 1991 20:048
    Jim,
The price difference between 507's and 517's is about $10 per servo
so the difference per radio system is $40. I think that they are
playing a slick marketing game here. Atractive price, but less for
your money. Personally, I'd pay the extra $40 for the 517's.

There is a new store in Leominster MA. which seems to sell and rent everything
except planes.

	R/C World
	100 Crawford St. Unit 7
	9:00am-10:00pm Sat&Sun, 3:30pm-10:00pm Wed&Thur&Fri

They have indoor tracks (dirt and carpet), a tank for boats, and 'terrain' for
tanks.

You can rent (for use on the premises) boats, tanks, motorcycles, and cars.

They didn't have very many parts in stock when I was there (it was opening day),
but claimed they would increase the stock in the future.

The main bearing in my OS90 just went bad and these people had them in stock

what they need to find the bearing. Don't talk to them about "model airplane

they'll say that they don't stock anything like that.

8.80Hobbies & Stuff 5 year celebration.ELMAGO::TTOMBAUGHNaked in a cave in the JemezTue Mar 10 1992 13:1431
Last night our local hobby shop, Hobbies and Stuff, had their 5 years
    in business celebration party.
They have recently doubled the size of the store, even so it was packed
with several hundred people at times. No sales going on just food,
bagpipers, and everyone standing around b.s.ing.
Two Chamber of Commerce reps presented a plaque to Helen & Stan, the
    owners.

Stan said he has 400 regular customers plus an unknown number of once-
-a-year at Xmas types. This is enough to keep him quite prosperus and
he is still expanding his inventory to fill up the extra space.
One key to his success is that he has an expert staff in each area,
planes, trains, boats, cars, helicopters, rockets, all of whom are hobbiests
    themselves.

Several times I've seen guys come in with helicopter problems, Stan
fixes it, then takes it across the street to a grass strip along the
road, fires it up, flies it around, shows the guy what he's doing
wrong, and sends him on his way.

Several times I've gotten calls from total strangers asking some arcane
glider question, and when I ask how they got my name they say, "Oh,
Stan was helping me with some problems I was having with my kit and he
said to call you to get some more ideas."

This year he's given our club $300 to use as we see fit, prizes,
raffles, etc. and he does the same for the largest power club.

Here's hoping they'll be in business many more years.

    re -1
They had a membership club, like Sam's and BJ's Wholesale. Membership
was for 39.95 a year. It entitled members to discounts up to 40% off
catalog prices. There was a $15 pick fee so it was more advantageous
to order large quantities. Both numbers that I have 800-858-7278 and
603-880-0276 have been disconnected. A couple of weeks ago when I
placed my last order was told that they (Ultra-5) were combining with
RC Wharehouse to extend services for members. The two people whom I
dealt with names were Preston and I think Barbara.

Note the membership club was with Ultra 5 and they called it RC Buyers
Club. Anyway, I've tried calling Hobbies Plus with no luck. RC Buyers
Warehouse is still going. I just called them and ordered a couple of
    props.

yep, I finally got the full scoop. RC Buyer's tried to get RC
Wharehouse to go in with them on the RC Buyer's Club since one was
devoted to planes and choppers and the other to cars + misc. When RC
Wharehouse declined, RC Buyer's decided to stop the Club and just do
    normal mail order.

February off due to the after Christmas lull.
8.90N25480::FRIEDRICHSKeep'm straight 'n levelTue Jul 07 1992 17:3615
Actually, I believe there are a few things playing into this..

1 - I have heard that he is trying to sell the store/track.
2 - I believe the summer is the "lull" period for Hobbies Plus because
it really is not an airplane store. They are focused on cars and
I imagine that summer is pretty quiet for cars.
3 - I believe (my opinion) that the store is more of a hobby than a
means of earning a living for him.

Oh well, I was going there less and less anyways... He really was
letting his stock of RC plane goodies diminish.

Went to RC Buyer Warehouse (99 Pine St. Nashua NH) this weekend.

Got to tell you about the great prices. I showed him some Tower
and Omni mail order prices for a Torqmaster Gel Cell, a Heavy
Duty Starter, Royal Escort Field Box and a Control Panel.

The Starter and Control Panel were by Hobby Dynamics which I
couldn't find in the Tower and Omni ads, but with every thing
I bought, he matched Tower and Omin's mail order price or did
a couple of bucks better! With the Hobby Dynamics stuff they
matched the prices or did better than those advertised with
Royal or Hobbico in Tower and Omni...

    They'll see me again.

I didn't think it was going to happen that quickly though.

It's too bad another local is going out of business. You could always
count on tom's to have some of the harder to find items, or at least
be well stocked on the common items.

I'll have to check and see if my engine will arrive at Tom's or R/C

amazing just how much stuff Tom had squirreled away in that basement of

may have to add-in another room besides the new heli section to put all
