| Tom,
PICA kits look good and fly well but have [deservedly so] one of
the poorest reps in the industry for quality of wood and hardware.
The ol' Yeller' Peril is from a PICA kit and the wood was miserable;
50% or more of it requiring replacement.

| In my humble opinion, Top-Flite kits are better quality and are
better documented, however, most of them are pretty loose, scalewise.
As Tom says, it's all in what yer' lookin' fer'...if a scale-"like"
Sunday ship flips yer' switch, the Top-Flite line'll fill the bill.
If, on the other hand, you want something for competition, forget
Top-Flite...and PICA too, for that matter. Again, as Tom said,
many kits are fraught with compromises to scale, usually to enhance
flyability, and they will not compete well. Exceptions to this
are Platt kits, Baker kits, etc.
Be advised, however that, even the friendlier Top-Flite/PICA ilk
of scale bird is not terribly "user-friendly." Virtually _any_
scale ship will be more challenging/less forgiving to fly...be sure
yer' piloting skills are ready before you take the plunge. Otherwise,
hundreds of hours of labor can roll into a ball in a heartbeat or,
more accurately, in a heartbreak!
