147.0. "Goldberg J-3???" by NRPUR::FORAN () Thu Apr 30 1987 12:10

    	Any body out there that has built/building a Goldberg J-3???
    I was out visiting a flying field in Michigan last weekend and there
    were two of them out there and they kinda gave me the bug, they
    were both powered by 4 cycle 90's, yes I said 90's ( a wee bit of
    overkill!) I have an OS40 that I think would have no problem with
    it although a 4 cycle prrs nicely and sounds sorta scale. Anybody
    out there bought any mailorder stuff?? That kit sells M/O for about
    59 bucks, but retails for 89 bucks. Sounds like it would be worth
    ordering, anybody got any ideas on this.

    	I haven't built one myself(not my kin of airplane) but a few
    fellow in the club have. One has a 4/90 and the other a 4/60.
    The fellow with the 4/90 intends to fly off of water so he wanted
    more power. They seem to fly OK, if that's your style. Surely
    not a windy day knid of plane. I've heard that they build well.

147.2I watched one last SundayTALLIS::FISHERKay R. FisherFri May 01 1987 18:1715
Last Sunday it was very windy and the most stable landing plane flying
was a Carl Goldberg J3 Cub. I think it had an OS40 in it.

He had said that he had a Sib J3 Cub before and he much preferred the
Carl Goldberg version.

The wind was a lot of fun - hand launches were a peace of cake.
Landing was a little tricky (except the Cub had no problem).

147.5Great kit!!MPGS::PERCUOCOFri Nov 04 1988 14:1911
    I'm just about finished with my "Goldberg cub"! I'ts
    a beautiful kit, real easy to assemble and quality
    parts! I'm putting an ENYA 90 4s in it. Being such a
    big engine, I mailed out to "Fiberglass Masters" for
    a glass cowl cause the plastic cowl that comes with the
    kit is tough to fit a 4-stroke thru. Well, the glass cowl
    fit like a glove and will probably take the vibration alot
    better. I highly recommend the "Goldberg J-3" for a first
    scale project. Good luck!
