The Fish and Wildlife Department's number is 207-289-5207.

    	From the application booklet:

"Fish and Wildlife Department personnel will staff these
phone lines from 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m Monday through Friday......
through November 30 to answer questions on the any-deer permit system."

You might give them a try. At least someone nice might say 'yes'
or 'no' if you gave your District and last 2 digits. (There *are*
some nice people in this world.)

    re. .14
If I'm interpreting your reply correctly it sounds like you applied for
antlerless permits in three districts. If so, it's a no no according
to the booklet rules and instructions. I believe that applying in more
than one district puts you out of consideration for the lottery in all
districts. I'm a non-resident and this is what my book says. Maybe
    it's different for Maine residents.

Not getting on your case, but thought you might want to be aware of
    this if you weren't.

    re -1

I guess maybe I wasn't clear on what I meant. The numbers drawn for
zones 8 and 9 did not match my license. I was hoping that due to this
there might be a better chance of them picking my number for zone 4,
which was the only zone I applied for and which I didn't get. Still
sounds confusing doesn't it. I thought maybe they'd say"for zone
    8 let's take 1,3,5,7,9. For zone 4 lets take 2,4,6,8".

    re. -1
Good thinking, but unfortunately it doesn't work that way. Sorry to
burst your bubble. You're number might come up in all the other 17
districts, but if it doesn't come up in the one you selected, you're
just out of luck. Like me. I've applied every year in my "home"
district #6 and haven't gotten drawn yet. 4 years ago my brother and I
saw 21 deer. 20 does and one buck. Brother got the buck. I got to
    look ;')

743.24DNEAST::MAHANEY_MIKEFri Oct 04 1991 06:274
In the zone that I hunt mostly, # 15, the only number out of
    00 - 99 that wasn't picked for non-resident was # 43. Could you imagine
being unlucky enough to have it. 42 numbers out of 00 - 99 were chosen
for residents, fortunately mine was one of them.

    RE .21
    	<Maybe it's different for Maine residents.>

You might be right. My hunting partner (over 20 years) moved to
Maine last year. He told me he missed a permit in one district but
    got one in another.

743.26DNEAST::MAHANEY_MIKEFri Oct 04 1991 11:207
Two years ago my father's number came up but did not recieve
a permit and when he asked why he was told because he applied twice.
When I went to put mine in just before the dead line I asked him if he
had already done his but he couldn't remember, so he told me to go ahead
and do it. Both permits were for the same area. This year we went
through the same thing except I asked the F&W to check first and he had
already done so. Good thing because his number was a good one.

I heard they drew the Maine Doe permits for 1992 yesterday. Can
someone confirm this? If someone could enter the numbers drawn for zone
#8 it would be appreciated, or for all zones for that that matter.

There's 4 of us going up the second week in November. This will be
my first year going out of state. I just started hunting deer last year
and drew my doe permit for Mass. First day out I nailed one. It took me
about 5-10 minutes. Guess I'm just one of the lucky ones. 40 more days
    and counting.

Help, Time is drawing near and I have not received my doe permit
application from the state of Maine. (I never got my moose application
either but its too late now) Would any of you have a spare application
or a number I could call to have one sent to me? I have applied every
year for the past 10 and never been drawn but I have to at least try!

    Any help would be appriciated.
