What is everyone up to this winter?? This file is alot
quieter than usual... Is everyone scouting land for
next years hunt? Birds or Big-Game??

Jeff_Who's been tying flies for fishing in the spring

goverment dosen't like me... A Million Bucks.... Boy would that
    buy me alot of toys...

Red, Youz just lucky you won that toy..

Red, congrats on the Baretta...That's my next gun..

Jeff, you'll need more than a few flys...Try tying some Footer
Specials...When we go, if you don't have any, they'll cost you
    $10 each streamside. Last fall I caught a 2lb Brookie and a 1.5
lb Salmon withing 15 minutes on the same fly (my only one in a size
10)..Then I snapped the damn thing on the rocks near the dam..That
was the last of the fish for the day..So Rick and I drank some
beers and bullshitted with all the fisherpeople....

As for hunting, let's see. I don't hunt squerrels, although I may
start shooting them if they keep attacking the bird feeder. There has
been a small doe in my back yard a few times over the past few weeks.
(Gotta get a new salt lick) If I see a dog chasing that deer, I'll
blast him....No second thoughts. That's about it for hunting.

Let's see...Gave my 2cents worth to the FIREARMS notesfile about
criminals breaking into my house and them NOT getting out alive.
The BOSOX notesfile is the same...Oh yea, work is ok.. God, I
hope DEC offers a departure package to a wider audience. I've been
planning a golf shop business and I need about $100,000 to start..

Going on vacation February 27th. Staying 4 days in Ft. Lauderdale.
I'll visit brother Mark for a day. He wants to go Gator hunting.
Trouble is, the gators he wants to hunt are at the "Gator Corral",
a local strip joint....Then heading to Nassua on the maiden voyage
of the cruise ship Fantasy...What can you hunt in Nassua ??

    Well, that's about it..

    Later....
    Jim

What have we been up to? Goose hunting, thats what!
We've been real lucky this year in bagging the geese. Managed
to secure access to several areas that previously had been "Off
Limits". Rumour has it that either next year or the year after the
extended season will cover the entire state rather then just the
coast. Make sure that you turn in all your bands as they are using
this data as justification to extend the season.

What have I been up to? Wondering why I like hunting so much.

I've been out about twenty times this year. Crows. Rabbits. Grouse.
Squirrels. ANYTHING!!! I had a total of ONE time I got a shot at
    something. And I missed.

But I still love it. Maybe I'm being prepared for something special
    next year.

Just sitting around enjoying the fruits of last year. (Elk & Deer)

We have had a rough week in the Pacific Northwest - wind and rain
    - and I'm concerned about the cabin. Even though it's in the Eastern
part of the state, they got some high winds also. We have a three
day weekend coming up in Feb, so I'm going to try and get in to
check on damage. Last year I tried and ended up walking a couple
of miles in a snow storm to get a guy with a cat to pull me out.
Never did make it in until Easter.

Spring chinook are starting to run in the Columbia & Willamette,
so that should keep me occupied til spring thaw.

1/2/90 I renewed my license and I still go looking for bunnies
every Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning. Have yet to get
any but taking the rifle for a walk in the woods sure is fun.

I've been doing some fishing and mostly starting plan next
year's hunt. Our group is going to Montana for the combo
elk +deer season. Applications must be in by March 31st
in order to qualify for the drawing. However, I don't think
they've sold out of the combo licenses for a few years.

Other than that, there's one more football game.......

Two more 'hunts' to go !!!!

Heading to Rhode Island with a group to get the dogs some
mid-winter exercise on some quail in mid-February.
And, hopefully, we'll sneak in one more pheasant hunt sometime
        before the end of March.

AKC Hunting tests begin in April, so as soon as we start getting
a little more evening daylight, the training sessions need to
        kick into high gear ;-)

For now though, a few ice fishing trips with the kids, and start
perusing the Bass Pro & Cabela's catalogs for fishing gear.

588.14List? What list?CSOA1::SANDERSFri Jan 19 1990 15:2820
I've been catching up on my reloading. I get lazy and let the brass
stack up over a four or five month period. Then I put the winter
push on to have a supply to shoot in the spring. This also keeps
me from storing any of my ammo for more than a year.

I'm starting to work up some loads for my 30.06 BAR that I just
    bought in November.

I still get out in the woods once in a while. The poachers don't
care if hunting season's over. And somebody's got to protect those
    critters until next fall.

Make my rounds at the gun shows, boat shows and sporting goods
stores. So many toys, so little time (and money).

Oh yeah, that list of "things to do" that my wife started in October.
Now where did I put that list?

Currently, waiting out the winter for next years seasons to start.

    While waiting,

I'm looking into a Bear hunt for the spring in Canada.
Thinking about a spring turkey hunt in Missouri again.
     Tanning hides, skunks and deer
Remodling the family room, want to make it look like a log cabin
    from the inside.
Got a new fly rod for XMAS, waiting for the ice to melt to give it
    a try.

other than the above I'm just keeping the skinning knifes sharp.

last summer and enjoying some good Vennie.. Mostly dreaming about
this year as I've had a terrible winter with colds and such... Can't
even enjoy a good ice-fish or hike in the snow with the cruds...
