    I got a doe tag this year. .4 said that he thinks he's in rut.
    I've been that way ever since the doe tag got here. I take it
    out look at it, bark at the kids if they get too close to it, and
    generally protect it as I would anything else that is a matter of
    life or death :-).

    I bought myself a box of 165 gr. Nosler Partitions, and I am in
    the midst of working up a load for them in the '06.

    I have to wait until November 5 to get back out into the woods (3rd
    season in Colorado). Until then, I can only hope that my wife
    will not require that I sleep with the dogs...

    Next weekend for antelope, then I wait until 5-Nov for deer/elk.
    My rifle is clean enough to eat off of, my knives will shave,
    my boots are waterproofed, my blaze is clean, my wife is taking
    it well.
    Wish me luck,
    Bill

    Yea, I'm ready. My wife has already noticed that I can't sit still
    at night without going through the Cabela's catelog for the 99th
    time, or reading Wildfowl, or sharpening knives, etc.

    Last evening I was out in the back yard training the pup when a
    very loud flock of geese flew over my driveway at treetop level.
    I couldn't sleep last night...........

217.17this is too complicatedLIONEL::SAISIWed Oct 12 1988 13:0714
    	I seem to remember reading that woodcock season opens
    	Oct. 10, is that the case? Also grouse were legal as of Oct.
    	10 in MA. So is anybody out there yet? Is it legal to hunt
    	the WMAs for these species before pheasant season opens?

   	Also can someone explain to me how the bag limits apply to
    	birds hunted on shooting preserves? I'm assuming that they
    	don't apply at least for the stocked species, but what about
    	others that can be shot but aren't stocked? Should you
    	save the tag that the preserve gives you until the bird is
    	consumed?

    	Thanks,
    	Linda
217.18An answer an a flame!!WONDER::MAKRIANISPattyWed Oct 12 1988 16:5020

    Linda,
    	I can't answer all your questions, but I can answer one. Partridge
    (the same as woodcock??) season opened Monday Oct. 10th. I'm assuming
    it's okay to hunt the WMA's since the one I go to every day had
    three cars parked there Monday morning and then when I was in there
    Monday afternoon I was talking to a hunter. I of course have started
    wearing my hunter orange cap and Oliver has his hunter orange collar
    and a bell. For two weeks Oliver was putting up partridge left and
    right, but the past two days we haven't seen one. I say it's not
    Oliver's fault, but that on Monday a hunter already went through
    the brush before us and on tuesday some jerk was in there tooling
    araound on his ATV. He's lucky I didn't run into him, cause if I
    had, I had the liscense(sp????) number of his car and and trailer.
    I'm sorry, but big orange gates across the access road and a sign
    that says "AUTHORIZED VEHICLES ONLY" to me means people shouldn't
    be in there joyriding on their ATV's. Whew! Sorry but I had to get
    that off my chest.

    Patty, If you had the number from the vehicle you should have called
    the Complaints # which is 1-800-632-8075. I am sure they would have
    given the individual a call.

217.22How much evidence is needed??WONDER::MAKRIANISPattyThu Oct 13 1988 16:467

    Can I do that though if I actually didn't see the person on the
    ATV, but only saw evidence thereof?? Is that number for police
    complaints of WMA complaints??? Thanks for the number though, I'll
    keep it handy.

    Patty
217.23MPGS::NEALThu Oct 13 1988 16:552
    The # was for Division of Fisheries & Wildlife Law Enforcement a.k.a Game
    Wardens. I believe they are responsible for WMA laws/rules.
