565.0. "Marine Maps?" by ARCHER::LAWRENCE () Mon Dec 11 1989 13:51

This is cross-posted in the New Hampshire notes file:

We're trying to find waterproof marine mape/charts of the Eastern coastline
(North Shore in Massachusetts, particularly). Can anyone point me to a
store that sells these things?

Preferably in the Southern New Hamshire...

Thanks,

Betty Lawrence

N.O.A.A. is now selling Waterproof versions of Navigational Charts. I
bought some for the Cape Ann Area last year.

You can order them direct from N.O.A.A. Distribution Branch
N/CG33 National Ocean Service, Riverdale, Maryland.20737

Soory I don't have the phone # handy. I think I had posted it in a
    note way back somewhere?

I bought one last year at the marina by the state launch in Hampton.
They had bunches of charts. You look at a master map and pick
out the section you want, then find the bin with the corresponding
number. I think it was around 15$ for the map. I don't recall the
name of the place. But you can't miss it...

It is likely Baert Marine will have the charts, they are in Plastow
and Hampton now (they definitly have them at the one in Danvers).
Bliss in woburn also has charts.

CADCRAFT MARINE has a waterproof chart that covers from Samel sound
to Cape Elizabeth, Me. Its printed on both sides and costs about
    $14.

Cadcraft marine is in Nashua, N.H. off Rt 3, exit 5w.

Another solution to waterproof charts (from Western Boatman, I believe)

Cut your non-waterproof charts into suitable sizes for you.
Place them back to back and put them through on of those plastic
    coating machines.

This keeps them handy, waterproof, and of a useable size, and no
    folds to worry about.

I like the idea of plastic-coating the maps. Does make it much easier to
get them.

We're all set now, thanks to all who volunteered information. I did
discover one more source for anyone else who is looking:
