And to fuel the fires for those of us who can't wait for snow ....

Last night on the Channel 4 news, I heard the magic word -- "Snow" !
It's supposed to snow in Montreal and possibly Burlington, Vt.
tomorrow. Snow flurries are possible as far South as Central Vt. &
Northern New Hampshire. It won't be long now !

    HUSH YOUR MOUTHs! %^)

I'm still sailing and will be until November.

Of course you water ski types who can't take the colder water can
always bundle up and play in the snow.

How much scope do you need to use on a snowmobile to make it hold
    well in the bottom?

What do the have to do with BOATS?

Talk about a limited use toy. Unless your in Canada how much use
do you get from them? 2 maybe three weeks a year??

                                              Walt

176.7Remember.... Quality not QuantitySQM::NELSONThu Oct 06 1988 13:356
Yes, maybe 2 or 3. Or if you're willing to sacrifice some time
and effort, maybe 2 or 3 months. Boats are for summer but Sleds
are for winter. That way I only drool about boating for a few short
weeks in mud season. The rest of the time is taken with `winter
    sports'.

	I don't understand the question.

> What do the have to do with BOATS?

Nothing really except that it was established last year that quite
a few Boaters also had an interest in Snowmobiles and that instead
of starting a whole nuther notes file we just used up one little ole
topic in the BOATS notes file. Thats why I stated NOT TO WRITE
any other topics about snowmobiles but just REPLY to this note.

> Talk about a limited use toy. Unless your in Canada how much use

Hey, I own a power boat / sailboat / snowmobiles and I use my
boat(s) less than I do my snowmobile ! My boat sits up at the
lake and gets used when I'm up there in the summer (approx. every
other weekend and one week in the summer). Where I live (Wilton
NH) we have a very active snowmobile club and a fairly good network
of trails. I can ride right out my backyard every night after work
and then on weekends trailer them to either the lake or anywhere
else there's good snow. Last year was not a banner year in So. NH
for snow (too much thawing and freezing) but the year before we
rode from just after Thanksgiving to mid-March !

A good percentage of boat owners also own Sno-mobiles.

Most of the people that I know that have boats, also have sno-mobiles.

Oh ... thanks Jeff, but if your gonna tie a rope to an Indy
	you'ld better hang on !

My pickup date for my 650 has been moved to November 11th. Hookset
Polaris has already sold out their initial shipment. I was asked to
wait for the second. Oh well, I guess the Apple Orchard will have
to wait for a few more weeks, eh Chris. By the way ... my camp
received over 4 inches of snow last night ! It won't last but it's
nice to know that it's comin' !!!

Jeff, is that Nordic a slide or a bogey suspension ?

It's bogie! The one for $625 is in great condition for the year.
New battery as of last year. One little crack on the cowl and that's
it, brand new track. The compression on each cylinder is identical
130psi. I think the motor was recently rebuilt, it real tight.

    Ok.
How many boaters also own snowmobiles? Just to please my wandering
mind?? I'm curious what the corelation is, and does anybody have
any substantial documentation of the fact?

And how about Jet skis? It would seem that the two would be perfect
    complements.

Do most people you know do there own service on Snowmachines? Jetskis?

What about Snow Surfers? Just like a windsurfer but it has skis
on the bottom or blades for running on a lake? Now thats something
I'd really like to try, They say you can get 4 to 5 times wind speed
out of one. Imagine a 30 kt breeze!

I do. I thought we had enough last year to keep up a pretty
good conversation for 4-5 months out of the year.

< And how about Jet skis? It would seem that the two would be perfect
< complements.

Personally I do not see the correlation. Jet ski's for the most
part are manufactured by the snowmobile dealers but the type of
	activity is different.

< Do most people you know do there own service on Snowmachines? Jetskis?

I do, to a point. You have to have the tools to do the job. If
I don't have 'em I know of people that do, so I buy them a rack or
2 and we fix 'em up. Not much wrong happens on the new ones but
sometimes they sure do try your patience.

A guy here at my office owns an Ice Boat. You've got to have some
clear (minimal snow) for this activity and he sometimes teases me
that the snowmobilers wreck his ice for Ice Boating. Not I ... I
	stick to approved trails.

FLASH my wife just called and said we are on track for a Nor-easter
this PM!! At our house in Ashby the temp was 38 at noon! I guess I have to
winterize the float toy tonight.

Does anyone sell a boat trailer that hooks to the outdrive shaft which
turns tank tracks like a snomobile? What a dream. I have seen
those rigs that strap under a car (NO JOKE) and turn it into a tank for
app $4K.

Boy do I wish Bob (Culley) would hold another snowmobile water race.
I was just catching on. Anyone else out there that boated with a snowmobile
at bob's events.

Sorry for the abuse you guy's seemed to be getting...I'm really
surprised by it. I just wanted you to know that Rick and I were
aware...and that action was about to be taken when you created your

176.24Fire at the Wander Inn, PittsburgSQM::NELSONMon Oct 10 1988 12:2913
For those of you who stay at the Wander Inn in Pittsburg while in
the area, you should call the Inn. They have had a fire which
destroyed the lodge. The owners are currently living in a trailer
on the premises and would like those that have reservations to call
and confirm and get all the latest scoop.

    Their number is (603)538-6535.

    Dana

P.S. Yes, I have placed this in the new Snowmobile notes file too
but wanted to make sure the news got out.
