381.0. "Present time" by CHEFS::WARRENJ () Tue Dec 19 1995 14:38

OK folks, time for a new topic.

Shelley's birthday present notes prompted this one.

How do you behave when you know someone has purchased a gift for you?

    ie..

Do you have to know the contents of a present which is given to you,
    and open it immediatley?

    Do you 'interrogate' the giver?

Can you wait until the 'right' day?

If you know a present for you is in the house, unwrapped, will you
    leave it alone?

Do you go on a secret present hunting mission?

and how do you open them?

    A ripper or a teaser?

    Come on, reveal all!

OK, seeing as I started the topic, I'll go first.

I like to know if someone has purchased a gift, but I'll leave well alone
    until the proper day arrives....but....

    There's usually a but!

I like to play the 'tell me, no! don't tell me!' game sometimes, too.
    Just to build the excitement.

and I'm a teaser when it comes to opening them...slowly unpeeling the
wrapper to reveal the hidden delights!

    Jackie :-)

If I am given a pressie a few days before Xmas, I HAVE to have a feel,
try & guess what's in it, I won't open it though.. but if I guess what
it is BEFORE I open it I then get disappointed that I've spoilt the
    surprise...

    No pleasing SOME people...

If I know that someone has purchased a gift for me then I start the
inquisition... so the next time around I'm the last to know... *8))))
That way its more of a surprise... *8)))

And as far as opening gifts is concerned I'm very patient with the
    covering... *8))))

There's a great ad being shown in the states right now with a bunch of
wrapped gifts of obvious shape. The final kicker is a dog with a
    wagging tail.

I usually guess correctly which ticks my family off since they try to
surprise me. I've taken to not guessing out loud 8^)

I wait because I love the anticipation of guessing what's in the
package. Opening it, could make me the olympic champion of tearing up
    the paper.

hehehehe... Yeah, I have a 2" wide tape gun... I've been known to "plastic
coat" some presents. Then there's the year I saved every box I could find (I
was young) and fit them all inside one another with a penny in a ring box
inside the inner most one. My mother must have been at it for 20-30 minutes. I
had wrapped some of the inner ones as well. It had a pretty good weight
considering it was just a penny. Yes, my sense of humor isn't a NEW thing 8^)

I like to tease. Showing the package, not allowing to touch and make
allusion on what it could possible be.
    Drives my sister NUTS.

I don't snoop around to try to find my presents...I like to be surprised!
Unfortunately Steve can't keep him mouth shut, hence I know most of my Christmas
presents already! I like to unwrap my presents slowly too...first take off
the bow and decide where to stick it (usually on my chest), the ribbons go round
my neck...by the time I get done unwrapping my gifts, *I* look like a wrapped
present!
