    It was the early 1970s. Three of us lads shared a fairly old home in
    the nicer Melbourne suburb of Balwyn. There was Kerry Lovegrove, an
    accountant workmate of mine at the time, myself, and an Asian student
    who was studying here.. Hubert Wong from Hong Kong.
    
    Together, we enjoyed some of the happiest days of our lives. We didn't
    realise it at the time, of course, but we DO know it now. Then one day,
    Hubert changed educational institutions and he had to move to another
    suburb, South Yarra, to be closer to his place of learning.
    
    Kerry met up with a young lady who went on to become his wife and I too 
    met Chris, who later became my wife. And so it was that with all this
    new-found activity, Kerry and I lost contact with Hubert. We sort of
    just drifted apart. 
    
    Well, today, thanks to Digital's network, Kerry and I were reunited
    with our pal, Hubert. The following is self-explanatory and the odds of
    it having happened must literally be millions to 1!

Subject: Could this be THE Hubert Wong I once knew in Melbourne??

Hubert,

	I was just doing a DIRECTORY listing within HGOV05, trying to see if 
a Hong Kong user by the name of Thomas Lam was logged on to the network over 
there right now.

	And in so doing, the user name "Hubert Wong" appeared on my screen. I 
don't know if you ARE the Hubert Wong I once knew here in Melbourne, but for 
the record, a young gentleman by the name of Hubert Wong once shared a house 
here in Melbourne with myself and Kerry Lovegrove, a long-time mate of mine.

	It occurs to me that Hubert is not the most common of names.. so.. 
would you, by any chance, happen to be THAT same Hubert Wong??

	Please advise.

    Hi, Don/Kerry,
    
    It is good to be able to get in touch with you two again after so 
    many years! I still can recall a lot of those happy hours we have had 
    in Balwyn when we were young. And it is already 23 years.
    
    I can't tell you how happy I am when I read the Mail message from 
    Don. I couldn't believe my eyes eventhough I know how small the world 
    is. Well, I am now in Digital Hong Kong as Program Manager looking 
    after a number of the Customer Programs. I just join Digital 5 months 
    ago after spendign 2 years with Unisys where I was responsible for 
    the Civil Aviation projects in China.
    
    I came back to Hong Kong in late 83 after spending more than 10 years 
    in Toronto.
    
    Thanks You, Don! Since it it YOU who bring out my interest in 
    Computing. Remember You took me to IBM for the aptitude test back 
    then? After I move out of Whitehourse road, I liver in South Yarra 
    and went to RMIT until I graduated in 73. Then I went onto Canada and 
    started my career as Programmer and has been working in this industry 
    since then.
    
    I married twice, each time leave me a son. My eldest is 18 now and is 
    preparing his university in Canada with my parents. My youngest, only 
    2 and is living with me in Hong Kong.
    
    I was back in Melbourne in late 92 and was unable to find you guys 
    from the phone book. I did went visited my high school, Swinburne, 
    and RMIT and met some old tutors and Masters.
    
    Anyway, life is full of surprise and it is certainly good to be able 
    to talk to you guys again. Keep in touch and look forward to meeting 
    you all again in the near future.

	BION: Here I was, still pretty sleepy, at 6:30, when walking into the building and still shivering from the cold winds blowing over the open grounds around the building. 	OK, don't ask me any questions about this because I can't explain, but here's one heck of a believe it or not for you....... BION: There are people out there that seek out notes conferences to read for the sole purpose of harrassing people. It's happened to me, and to a few others in here that I know about. 	BION: Here's something to ponder. Here in MASS anyways, (other states too ) we have a bazillion cars with individual license plates and numbers. NOW, I have been looking forEVER at license plates and have NEVER found one anywhere CLOSE to my numbers. That is until yesterday! I was driving up the street and this van was in front of me and I was looking at it's plate and thinking to myself how familiar that plate looked. So I started thinking about where I may have seen it before....then it dawned on me....it was EXACTLY like mine except for ONE NUMBER My tag # is 809-LMP and this other van's number was 409-LMP. 	I was going to start a "strange but true note", but this title fits. Monday or Tuesday my dad lost his good luck silver dollar with his birth year on it, he's been carrying it around for about 50 years now. Sunday or Monday dad didn't play his numers "1921", which he always plays. Well, guess what???? They came in, in exact order, and would have paid off $4400.00. A few weeks ago, mom's very close neighbor who's also a nurse, told her boss she couldn't work the 26 or 27 of last month. She had no plans...certainly didn't know she's be attending the wake and funeral then. Steve and I had been planning to go camping the weekend of the 24 all summer, to celebrate his birthday. I just didn't feel right about going, and it would have been terrible timing if we had. Truth IS stranger than fiction. Lola
