158.0. "Adult Halloween Costumes" by MILPND::J_TOMAO () Thu Oct 07 1993 21:34

O.k. please help me out here......

I need some ideas for a halloween costume. Did you have one or
remember one from a party you went to?

I can't afford to buy/rent one so I would like suggestions for one I
    could make.

When's the party Joyce? I have an awesome clown costume that I made
three years ago. Complete with pants, hat, shoes, wig, nose, make-up.
The only thing that's missing is the blouse, but I can whip up a blouse
in less than an hour. Would you like to borrow it?

Take a clear plastic trash bag, cut 2 holes in the bottom for your
legs, wear tights and the trash bag pulled on like a dress (from the
bottom up), fill the bag with blown up balloons, close the top with a w
sting and go as a bag of marbles (or M&M's)

You could take two large pieces of cardboard and hinge them together
making one the inside of the refridgerator and the other the door. On
the inside piece, draw shelves and put a hole in the freezer section to
stick your face through . Guess what this is? Jeffrey Dahmer's lunch.

well thank you to all who have replied but I would like to clear one
thing up - when I said 'adult' I didn't mean X-rated or gory, just not
"how to make a ninja turtle" costume or where to get a Barney patern.

2 from holly that made me chuckle:

Wear a t-shirt with a front pocket, put a straw in the pocket and go
    as:

    The last straw......

or wear an eye patch, a hook and a sword and tape video's on to it and

    Baby bottle
    Freckles
Pony tails with kiddie ponytail holders.

The way the jammies fit, it looks like a loaded diaper from
the back! I won a prize for best costume with it 2 years ago,
but we aren't going to the same place with the same people
this year, so I'm doing it again.

Also, you could wear a set of hospital greens, and rubber gloves
with a stethascope around your neck. Fill your pockets with all
    kinds of medical parafanalia.....

Joyce,

How about going as a gypsy? Wear a white peasant blouse, get a cheap black vest
and sew different color rick rack all over it, put on several chain belts,
wear a long ruffly print skirt, and borrow all kinds of costume necklaces and
bracelets and layer them on, and big dangly earrings. Put on lots of make-up,
and tie a bandana on, babushka style. This can be as sexy as you want to go,
depending on how low the blouse is! Most of the stuff you should be able to
borrow if you don't already have it. You'd look great in this costume!

You could also carry a tambourine, giving it a good shake whenever you want
attention!

JC wants to be a space shuttle. Idea spawned, no doubt, from our
trip to KSC back in August. I don't have a clue, yet, as to how
I'm gonna pull this off.

Jazmin? Who knows. We may dress her up like a pumpkin; get some
real pumpkins and put them all in a wagon together and pull them
around.

O.K., time to put on your thinking caps! I need plenty of ideas for
costumes Steve and I can wear on the cruise, one night there's a masquerade

	- Must be comfortable
 	- Must be easy to pack and not take up alot of room
	- Must be couple complimentary
	- Must be suitable for large sized people!

Thanks for any help!

Evening Lola,

Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum (the "b" is optional and assignable at your

Skipper and first mate
Pirates
(both of which are pretty size independent)
Mama and Papa bear (carry a Goldilocks doll)
Sculptured bookends
Rubenesque figures (how well will you know this crowd?)
Animals
Couch potatos (just bring along a remote 8^)

Some Cruises have a theme so you might check and see if there is one this time.

>	- Must be suitable for large sized people!

maybe you mean "normal" sized people (I've been most of these costumes 8^)

Evening CM,

Thanks for the ideas! Tell me, how would one go about being a sculptured
bookend? That sounds pretty interesting, although we'd have one 6', and one
5'4"!

The cruise is not having a theme for this, just a costume party. There are a
few theme nights as well, one western and one 50/60s.

I have a few ideas for costumes, one is to go as a money bag and a robber,
another is to go as a goldminer and a nugget of gold.

>maybe you mean "normal" sized people (I've been most of these costumes 8^)

No, I mean large sized people, I am the original model for Reuben!

The bookends took some explaining at the party. Just do yourself up as
mirror images of each other and always sit back to back 8^)

Reubenesque is good. Gives the "artist" more to work with 8^)

Hmmm, this sounds interesting, I'll have to give it more thought!

Steve thinks so, even though *most* men don't!

BBW 8^) I guess I'm not MOST men 8^)

There's also Rosanne and Dan but you've got to have the whiny voice

K.I.S.S. applies. You want it to be something easy and comfortable. Teddy bears
are good if it's cool where you'll be (like Halloween in New England)

CostumeMangler,

>K.I.S.S. applies.

Common sense?? That I've got! O.K., what I think I'm going to do is go as the
money bag, and Steve as a bank robber. I can make a "bag" out of muslin with
a drawstring neck, holes for arms and legs and glue fake money coming out of
all the openings. I'll also paint "First National Bank" on the front and a big
"$" on the back. Steve can dress in black, wear a mask and carry a water pistol
which will provide some entertainment by itself. This will be easy to make
and pack, comfortable to wear...

Thanks for the ideas CM, I'm still going to ponder those bookends! I like that
idea alot, but would like it better if I didn't have to pack it. That way I
could cut mirror images out of sheets of foam and paint them!

Yeah, the bookends is more of a local party costume. Always glad to
help. I agree that the robber/money bag should be cute. You'll have to
take pictures and bring them to one of the gatherings (I half expected
to see you at Kimball's today)

Have a good weekend, I'll be in in the morning.

	CM,

I'll make sure someone takes some pictures of us!

I'll make it to one of the warmer weather Kimball's parties!

        Have a good weekend!

Where's the challenge in the warmer weather 8^)

I look forward to the pictures and the trip report of the cruise. Don't
forget to say "hi!" to Gofer for us.

The challenge for me is more the time than the weather, I don't
get up until 11, 11:30 usually!

I'll wave to Gopher if I pass a Princess cruise ship, but we'll be on
	RCCL!

I plan on taking many photos, although I think I'll leave the camcorder
home this trip. I'm going to get a few of the disposable panoramic
	cameras, they're great!

Yeah, second shift does that to your schedule. By the time you get home
and unwind, it can be pretty late. Glad to hear your house is quiet
enough to allow it (ours isn't).

Look forward to the pictures and finally meeting you f2f
