	After 13 years it has finally come time to say good-bye. One
    of the things I think I will miss the most is the notes files.
    I have written to and met some very nice people over the years.
    I started working at DEC while I was still in High School and
    worked my way up to supporting the 23 class design and release
    process and becoming the owner of DEC standard 184. It isn't
    easy leaving all those years behind but when transition comes
    knocking you don't have much choice.

	My last day is Friday, after that I will be at Personal
    Solution Computers in North Grafton. If you are looking for
    a good deal on a new personal computer give me a call at

    Well so far it's look like I won't be back next week.  I just talked to
    my agency and they said they don't have any assignments available yet
    and won't really know anything until the middle of the week.  I
    actually hope there's nothing available as then I can collect
    unemployment and take a much needed vacation.  The girl who watches
    Shane during the day want to take off for a couple of days to Salisbury
    Beach.  I'm game!!!

    My "Big Brother," Chuck Person, asked me to put this note in here for

    Unfortunately, Chuck got laid off 2 weeks ago, and his account was
    disabled before he had a chance to say good-bye.  He's been having a
    pretty good vacation for the last couple of weeks, and he is doing just
    great.  He has a lot of aspirations for the future, and it is far from
    being bleak.

        It's tough.  .  .knowing the right words to say after so many
        years when you have  to  say  goodbye  to  someone.   So many
        laughs, tears, experiences of good and bad.  .  .that somehow
        a simple few words can't express  the  sadness  you feel when
        you know you're leaving a group that is as close as family.
        
        I was informed this morning that I am on the list to be layed
        off.  What this means is that Monday  will  most likely be my
        last  day.    I  have  mixed  emotions about the whole  thing
        because I have plans and hopes for the future.  The lack of a
        job  now  means that those will either be pushed out or moved
        up in time.
        
        I thank you.  .  .for all your kind words when I needed them.
        P&PE when  others  that  I  knew  needed it.  Hugs when I was
        feeling blue or just being there to listen.
        
        Please, do not  worry  about  the frog.  .  .though his plans
        take him far from  home.    I will be fine.  The future looks
        bright and hopefully, it'll only get brighter.

    OVer the years we've bounced in and around all kinds of notes files,
    shared the discoveries of similar lives, hopes, and dreams... given 
    support were we could to those who needed it.  And discovered that 
    we both have very similar tongues.  ;-)
    
    It started way back in CONVERSATIONS and carried through to so many 
    different places.  I've laughed with you and worried with you.  I know 
    a little about your future plans and dreams and all I can say is that 
    if anyone diserves to have them work out, it's you.  
    
    Keep a cleared spot on the lily pad for me okay Froggie?  You never
    know when I'll come bustin' down through the clouds my tongue flicking 
    over my eyebrows and a spout of flame and smoke spuing forward.  
    
    Ah there's the key word... forward.  I think that's what we've had most
    in common over the years, no matter how great the lose in our past,
    we've always been able to move forward, hesitently perhaps but we've
    managed.  
    
    I'll miss you buddy and I hope all the dreams and hopes you've
    expressed, the things you search for in life are always there for you 
    and easy to find.

    Now comes one of the more difficult goodbye's I've had to write.
    
    Not because it's hard to write, because there have been, over the 
    past few years, so many things to have to say about her. 
    I'm talking about Tracie Baker, aka Peachy-T, Baker-Tart, Lil' Welshie,
    and several other nicknames that are both repeatable and unrepeatable
    in here.
    
    How do you say goodbye to someone you've come to love this much?  It's 
    not easy.  I've tried to deny it, lie to myself about it, convince
    myself it's a joke, but it doesn't work out that way.

    Darlin' over the few years I've known you, I've come to, quiet simply,
    love you.  You've been a giggle, a thought, a prayer, a hug, and a
    friend.  I've laughed at you, and with you, cried for you, shared with 
    you and done all the things one would with family.  (Well, all accept 
    the drooling, you don't drool over your family).  
    
    When I've been down, you've found words to bring me up.  When I've felt 
    pain, you've done your best to heal.  When I created the last dragon, 
    you gave him a soul-mate.  We've always had fun together, and over time
    I found that contrary to some's opinions there's a lot more depth and 
    solidity, reality to you then just a 'dizzy blonde b!+ch'.  I've held 
    your hand over the net a few times and tried to do for you the things 
    you've done for others.  
    
    And I'm going to miss you.  More so then most of the other folks who 
    are leaving, although they too will be missed by me.  I'll miss the 
    thoughtfulness that went into sending me a picture of Annie and Myself 
    together from New Years.  I'll miss the joking that went on that night
    and carried on through to this day.  I'll miss the a$$ chewings Griffin 
    would get from Lil' Welshie, and I'll miss the kindness and tenderness
    that you so carefully hid from people until they got to know you and 
    could see through your clever act.
    
    I wish you... well, I wish you everything I can dear.  Happiness,
    health, luck, hope, dreams, beauty, easy journeys, everything.  IF it
    were in my power to give them to you I would, because of everyone I've 
    known, I've no doubt that you deserve them.  
    
    In other words, what I'm saying, which seems to keep getting tangled 
    in my fingers when I try to type it, is simply
    
    I'll Miss You.  
    
    I'll miss your barbed tongue when you're lashing out with an insult
    I'll miss your supportive words and poems when I'm hurting.
    I'll miss your clever little comments when I need to chuckle

    It is with mixed emotions that I inform you that I have resigned from
    DEC due to irreconcilable differences with my management and myself. 
    This has been brewing for some time, and I finally got just too tired
    of feeling like I was standing on a box with a noose around my neck.
    My resignation has been officially accepted, and although I offered
    a notice, it has been decided that it best serves DEC if I leave
    immediately...probably today.
    
    That will make it pretty much impossible, particularly if they
    pull my system access (and I assume they will), to correspond with the
    many of you individually that I have come to know and love over the
    past almost-a-year that I've noted in this file.
    
    Don't be sad for me...I see this as a new beginning!!

    Well kids - one more week and I'm outta here.
    
    I've been re-orged twice in a little over a year, and if I were staying
    I'd be re-orged again in Jan. Maybe. No-one seems quite sure.  I'm just
    tired of feeling that no matter how well you do your job, it's a
    crapshoot whether you get a raise or a pink slip.  
    
    I guess I've just wished goodbye and good luck to one too many
    ::FRIENDS and others over the last year - an opportunity arose to move
    on, and I decided the time has come to leave home.
    
    And so, after 11.5 years, I'm off.  I'll be working for a large
    customer in NYC - so I may run into some of you on the phone or at
    DECUS sometime.  For the rest, I hope like hell things get better

        Well folks, the time has come for me to say good bye to you all. The
    TSFO Monster will soon pay a visit here where I work and I will most
    probably be "tapped" and given my pink slip after 17 years in this
    facility. 

    	I am writing this "goodbye" now because as of tomorrow I will no
    longer have a means to communicate with any of you as this and most
    terminals are being packed up and sent to Chihuahua, Mexico along with
    my job. That leaves me with virtually nothing to do until I get the
    "Package"

     	I would like to thank each and every one of you for your friendship
    and for the fun I have had over the last couple of years I have
    participated in this file. I only hope this TSFO madness will end soon
    as it has depleted this company and this file of some very good people
    who I have missed and will miss after I leave.

             There is a slight possibility of me staying with
        Digital, but it would be a demotion and a rather large cut in 
        pay. I'm still going through interviews but it doesn't look
        good at all. Just too many people trying for one or two odd jobs.
            
        Well, I hope to be back in here some day soon, but until then
    please take care and have fun in here. It is a great place to make
    acquaintances from afar and near of course.  Take care my Friends!

    My question:  If a company/Corporation of the Size of Chrysler can
    exist and be profitable with 30 Vice Presidents, why does Digital a

    On Don's last trip to the States, he managed to pop into Detroit for a
    breif time, it seems that he and I shared a custoemr at that time. He 
    made it out to my office, and when he called for me and reached the
    group secretary, he said that he was here to repo my car! I was
    startled at first, but then realized that it must be ol' Down Under
    Don, up to his old tricks again!  
    
    We had quite a laugh over it, my only regret was that I couldn't spend
    some time with him showing him the town. As I recall, he had to take
    off to Pittsburgh to see another ex-Deccie, but that's a story for
    another time and place....

    Well, I'm NOT saying good-bye, but I have a message from someone who
    was TFSO's just less than two  months ago.
    
    M-L called me today.  She's already found a new job!  She'll be working
    for Novice, Inc.  A software place that does a lot of software for the
    major airlines.
    
    She's doing well... all of her furrfaces are wonderful .. she's enjoyed
    her time off, but is quite eager to go back to work.

Everyone else is doing it, so will I.

I found out last week that there will be major cuts in my group.  
Since the group will be about half what it is now, there was no 
need to keep my job either.  We had a very close "office family".
I'll miss them very much.  When my manager told me she was 
visibly upset.  She said she would hire me back when things "got 
better".  I think it would take a lot for me to come back to 
this.

I'm slowly beginning to let people know.  They express how sad 
they are etc.  For me, the only sadness I feel is seeing that 
they will be staying.  Working in these kinds of conditions 
cannot be good for anyone... the stress, the uncertainty...

Digital has been very good to me and I really can't complain 
(too much!).  I'm very excited to make a fresh start after 
8+ years here.  They've paid for my education and have helped me 
gain the skills that are very marketable right now.  I really 
hope the company can return to profitability, but I'm honestly 
not very positive about that prospect.

I'm very glad that I've gotten to know a few of you and wish you 
all the very best.  Remember who is number one, always.  Make 
sure you have skills you can fall back on in case things don't 
work out for you here. I'm one of the lucky ones because I was 
prepared and could react quickly.  I'm sad to say that some of my 
co-workers were not.  People are not being let go because of poor 
performance, it's a numbers game and when your number's up... 

Remember, don't take the crass and immature attitude of saying 
"S/he deserved to be laid off" because one day it could be you.

    I'm handing in my resignation today and will leave digital to join
    my lovely, sweet and caring mrs. in Cumming GA. My flight is on
    Sunday June 19th! I have enjoyed this conference with ya'll to the best
    and many many friends in here will be in our hearts forever. I *know* we
    will be seeing some of you in the near future which I am looking very
    much forward to! ;-) If anyone of you doesn't have our address then

    I wish everyone of you the very very best in what's to come. I hope you 
    all get to keep your jobs and that digital will improve itself to what

    	As you know we're doing the QUANTUM leap this weekend (THREE DAYS)

    Time for me to slowly start saying my goodbyes once again!
    Tomorrow is my last day...Saturday moving from Munich to Holland,
    spending X-mas and New Years with my mom, moving to the US

         Hello everyone,
    
         The time has come for me to say goodbye.  Tommorrow 1-4-95 is my 
      last day as a Deccie.  I have taken a position with Hitachi and will
      be working in the Intel fab in Alburquerque, N.M.  I have been
      looking for a while now and believe this to be my next JOB and
      ADVENTURE.  Sorry I haven't had a lot of time to note but things are
      really getting hectic as the few previous notes state.  Well it's bye

People,

This note is simply to advise you all that I have resigned from Digital 
today.

My reasons for leaving are simply that I've been made an offer which I 
cannot rationally refuse by another USA-based Corporation which is a 
major international OEM of Digital. (The offer was so good that even with 
all the perks I get now, I just cannot stay.)

I hope I'll still be around until Easter, but you know how it is when 
you're a sales guy.. resign and sometimes the policy is that you must go 
NOW ..do not pass Go.. just go NOW!

I have reason to believe the powers that be will let me stay on just a 
bit longer yet.. so here's hoping.

In the meantime, sincere thanks to you for being a special part of my 
life at Digital. (I'll be back to haunt you via the Internet once I get 
myself set up on that.)

    Well, before most of you arrive at the Office tomorrow, I'll have left
    Digital.. forever, I guess.
    
    This is a most emotional moment for me, being as how so many of you
    have been part of my daily life for so long now.. about 8 years or so,
    I think it's been. 
    
    I'd like to thank you all for being the wonderful friends you've all
    been to me and I look forward to continuing that friendship via mail
    over the Internet.. just as soon as I get myself all set up.
    
    Words could never adequately describe how I feel in leaving Digital. On
    the one hand, I feel that I am embarking on a new challenge; on the
    other, bidding goodbye from the viewpoint of interactive participation
    ... and I feel downright sad about that. I am just hopeful that my new
    employer will see that it's essential that I make my way around the
    world again soon, so I can get to meet you all again.
    
    Well, friends, in a sense this is Goodbye.. I'll still be poking about
    the network for about another 20 hours yet.. but I felt that it'd just
    be nice to say my Goodbye at a time when many of you are about.
