Ah ha! Now we know why the BoD meetings are held in such remote and
expensive-to-get-to locations (Bremuda, Disneyland, resorts in Maine,
etc.). Imagine the terrible condition our credit union would be in if
members actually paid attention to what our directors did at these BoD
meetings?!

Also, the minutes are not public record.

| Why is this? I was on a condominium board and the only part of the
meeting which was closed was the discussion of personnel items. In NJ,
we have the sunshine law so that everything is public (except personnel
items). Is this a rule of DCU or the NCUA which grants the charter. If
the minutes had been made public, could Richard Mangone have gotten
away with what he did?
Is this something which can be changed by a new BOD? If so, do the
"Real Choice" candidates support such a move?

Yes. If the minutes had been made available who would be reading them? I
doubt that anyone would have bothered reading the minutes of the BofD meeting
of a well-run credit union (which is what it was considered at the time).

The joint statement of the "REAL CHOICES" candidates, while it does
not specificaly address the subject BoD meeting minutes, states that
they are committed to:
o Restore membership confidence through more extensive, honest, and open
communication about what is happening at *our* credit union. No more
glossy brochures offering "more choices" that are actually fee increases.
I am confident that public disclosure of Bod minutes to the extent
permissable by law would be seriously considered by "REAL CHOICES"
directors if it was requested by the membership.

| Per Patty D. the last Board minutes should be available for each member
to read at the branches.
When I turned in my picture for the ballot at DCU headquarters, I
indeed got a chance to read the minutes.
Confidental information regarding individual loans and other
information have been blackened out. Only individuals with access to
the full minutes can judge whetehr the censorship was appropriate or
not. It's a tough balance between an individual's rights to privacy and
full reporting to the membership.
But this does seem to be a step in the right direction.
