257.0. "How to redirect payroll to a real bank?" by PORT::NORDLINGER (DTN 521-3398 Western Region) Sat Aug 10 1991 17:59

    What are the steps for having my payroll deposited to a local
    bank rather than the DCU? I'm sure at least somewhere in DEC
    I have to fill out a form and likely at whatever bank, but I've
    been procrastinating about it for too long since I don't know
    where to start and think now is the time....

257.2In my case: DCU isn't Direct DepositPEACHS::MITCHAMAndy in Alpharetta (near Atlanta)Tue Aug 13 1991 16:4017
For those of you who, as I do, currently have monies being deposited into DCU
accounts as well as a local financial institution:

Don't be confused (as I was) that the monies deposited into DCU are "direct
deposit" -- they aren't. They are "voluntary deductions". Therefore, even
if I had >$1000 in my share draft account, I would still be assessed the fee.
Something to keep in mind...

At any rate, to change what is deposited to DCU, just fill out one of those
change deductions cards (whatever they're called). No need to fill out a DDA
(Direct Deposit Authorization) form.

-Andy (who has been set straight, and is heading straight to a bank)

BTW: The people at corporate payroll say that there is currently no provision
for making direct deposits to savings accounts though it -may- be implemented
in a few months...<sigh>

Are you sure about this? The new Schedule of fees says:

Direct Deposit*				NO FEE
and balances >= $1000

*Your Direct deposit or at least $100 of your payroll
automatically deposited weekly to your BASIC checking

Seems to be pretty clear that "volutary deductions" do count...

I checked with the DCU and payroll deductions >$100 do count.

An oversight on my part. Alas, at least I don't have to go thru the hassle
of changing my Direct Deposit.
