29.0. "New Easy-Touch 800 Number" by BMT::LONERGAN (Colleen T. Lonergan - DTN 333-6665) Fri May 29 1987 14:51

For those of you who use the 800 number for Easy-Touch, the
number has been changed. The new number is:

                         1-800-322-1232

Please make a note of it.

Hey DCU - when were you going to inform us? It's very aggrevating
to dial a number and having the operator tell you the new number.
Then you have to dial ALL over again!

Will the DCU send out new Easy-Touch cards indicating the new phone
    number? It would be nice!

It was more argrevating two weekends ago when you got a recorded
message stateing that some number was not in service and
the number that the recording stated was not the number I dialed.

29.2Not really a new numberBUBBLY::LEIGHRelocation's a full-time jobWed Jun 17 1987 11:2910
    re .0:

    (800) 332-1232 has been the Mass.-only 800 number for Easy Touch
for some time, and (800) 343-0620 was the number outside Mass.

Are you saying that the first number is now usable from New York
as well as Mass.? If so, I'd consider that an improvement. But
yes, we should have been informed by the DCU, not by the phone company.

I can reach DCU at (800)332-1232 from here so I imagine it can be
accessed from New York as well...

Shouldn't that number be 1-800-322-1232 (322, not 332)? At least
in Vermont we can't dial 332.

I'd like to know why they had to change the number!

29.5Oops! Wrong number. It *is* (800)322-1232. Sorry...QBUS::MITCHAMAndy in AtlantaWed Jul 15 1987 10:424
I don't know why they *had* to change the number. To be honest, I never
knew the first one existed. Glad to know it now, though.

Are you in a time warp? Your date is 15-July-1987! WOW! My
calendar says that today is 19-June-1987. What will my reply be
    stamped for a date?

Using the aforemetioned 800 number here is Conn. sometines I get
a very polite "system unavailable" - other times no answer at all.
99 out of 100 times I get thru just fine. What's going on when
    I get no answer?

Have you tried 800-322-1232? There used to be two toll free numbers
to Easy Touch, but just before I left DCU the outside MA toll free
number was dropped and the MA only number is now accessible from
    any where in the country.

I dialed the 800 and it asked me badge number. I complied, then
it asked me access code. I don't have one. How can I get one or
is there just a generic way of accessing the system. What can this
    800 number do for me?

Thanx for the info. in advance.

Call the main office and ask them to issue you a code #. They'll
    send it in the mail.

I dialled Easy Touch today and learned that the old robot voice has been
replaced with a female voice, and the options and selections are
different. Is DCU going to mail out a new guide for this?

     Art,

they already did. I belive I got mine with the first mailing
of October. The new voice system also offers help functions online.

A guide was included with the most recent statement mailing.

I miss the old DECtalk voice, but the new system does map better to
reality, and it lets you interrupt chatty messages if you know what you
    want.

29.19I'm mixed about the new voice...WAYLAY::GORDONto indicate the passage of time!Mon Oct 24 1994 15:1510
You could interrupt the DECtalk too - you just had to wait for it to
actually start the next sentence. This one you can type the whole sequence in
as soon as it starts talking.

I actually find this one harder to understand when it's reading off
balances, probably because I don't like the breaks between sound bytes.
DECtalk (for all it's odd pronunciation and inflection) managed to read numbers
with a more realistic cadance.

I too liked the other one better, fewer breaks. Seldom listened to
    any dialogue -- except when 'he' got confused. 1#1#1# ... 1#1#5# ...
    ... *#.

The new one has some bugs - pressing zero to back out doesn't work all
the time. The *2# sequence for help is just a bit bizarre. But otherwise
it's ok.

Sounds like they will need a 'help' key to remind you how to get 'help':-)
