643.0. "Status of Easytouch changes?" by KYOA::KOCH (It never hurts to ask...) Sat Feb 20 1993 15:32

I couldn't find the base note for this question.

What is being done to implement changes to the "cleared check" feature
    of Easytouch?

    The suggestions were:

    1. Telling you the checks in reverse order, i.e. telling you the most
    recently cleared check first, etc.

    2. The ability to input a check number to see if a specific check had
cleared and when. This is helpful to people who mail items only once or
twice a month and more than 5 items may clear on the same day.

I'm surprised that no-one has commented on the status of this request.
Are any of the DCU noters interested in this feature or not?

Yes, I'd like to be able to enter a check number and see if it has

I just used the "Check Clearing" enquiry.
I was very confused and am not sure what I was given.

Does it give checks cleared over a certain period?

I'm trying to resolve a discrepency between the ATM balance and the balance
in my checkbook. I found some of my errors chacking against the statements.
However I'm not shure which recent checks have cleared.

It would be good to get what the base note described. It would also be good
to enter the most recent check written in my check book and to be told which
checks with that or a lower numebr had not cleared - this is exactly what I want
to work out. The current information does not seem to help.

The order is definately confusing. It needs to be simple enough for a person
that is incapable of keeping an accurate running balance in there checkbook -
me.

I have used this option many times. It gives you the last 5 checks that
    have cleared. It's a first-in, last-out buffer.

It would be VERY nice if you could enter a check number and be told if
    it has cleared or not.

I would like to see a feature that would allow members to enter the
checking and savings or other acounts as a group when inquiring about
balances. It is frustrating when you have to start at the beginning to
get account balances on each of your accounts.

    Just a thought,

Once you have logged into Easy Touch, it will say:

"Please enter transaction type."	Enter 1#	for inquiries

"Enter the type of inquiry."	Enter 4#	for check clearing

"Enter the savings number." Enter 5# or 51#

Easy Touch will then recite the check number, check amount and date it
was posted, for the last 5 checks cleared.

643.10An expanded inquiry would be great!!MACAW::CASSONEWed Mar 17 1993 14:2713
Being able to enter a check # to see if it has cleared would be wonderful. It
would also be nice to be able to get information on electronic transactions such
as Direct Deposit, Checkfree transactions, etc.

I think that you should be able to query the system for things like:
Did a certain check # clear?
Did a withdrawal for amount $xxxx occur?
Tell me the last 5 deposits
Give me an account activity summary for the last 5 days
	Etc

643.11EasyTouch and mortgage paymentsAWECIM::MCMAHONLiving in the owe-zoneWed Aug 10 1994 16:0131
I just found an interesting 'feature' of EasyTouch and upon inquiry,
    mortgage payments.

I always make my mortgage payments using EasyTouch. Up until this
month, I've paid the amount due - no more. This month, I thought I'd
add a little to be applied directly to the principal. EasyTouch
wouldn't let me. It kept telling me that the amount was too large. So I
tried a smaller amount but still more than the payment amount. Still no
go. So I just paid the regular amount and went down and asked our local
branch manager what was going on. She said that DCU won't accept a
principal-only payment within 15 days of the due date of the mortgage
payment. The computer wasn't setup to handle it.After that, I could
come down to the branch and have them do a principal-only payment, but
even they couldn't do one before the 15 days is up.

I found this very strange so I called the information center, not
mentioning my conversation with the branch manager. The person
answering the phone was puzzled as to why Easytouch wouldn't accept a
larger amount for payment. She then checked and found that there is a
separate principal-only payment option that is not available from
Easytouch, so she just went ahead and applied the extra payment - no
problem (and it is within the 15 day window).

My next step is to try and make a small payment using EasyTouch after
the fifteen days is up and see what happens.

So, for those of you who mail in your mortgage payments - is there
anything on the payment slip that allows you to make an additional
principal-only payment? If so, I wonder if they hold that for 15 days
before applying it or if our local branch manager misunderstands how it
    works.

With the old "mailed to you" slips there was room for you to enter
"additional" principal to your payment (there was a line/box).

With the new ""uniform, muulti page, greay grey, DUMB (opinion) book,
there is no extra principal line broken out, BUT you can add it in the
    blank area.

I have never had any problem over paying a payment, I have not tried a
separate, additional, principal only payment though.

In your case, you were trying to do an over payment, which seems
reasonable to me, no matter how they TECHNICALLY apply it. I had
asked earlier this week about using the ATM to make my payments, and was
told I would need to wait until after the date DUE to make a payment,
I could not pay earlier than the day due, but I never do anyhow as I
tend to make use of the 15 day grace period (du the 1st, pay before or
    on the 15th) anyhow.

I also tried to "overpay" my mortgage and discovered that EasyTouch wouldn't
let me. I later asked my friendly ZKO teller. Her response was that I
couldn't pay extra via EasyTouch, but would have to do it through a teller.
She further explained that the teller helping me pay extra on my principal
would have to call DCU headquarters to get someone there to actually enter
the payment -- that their electronic system doesn't allow the teller to
enter an amount larger than the mortgage. She did not mention anything about
how the due date might or might not affect my ability to "overpay".

fwiw...

This is interesting. There seems to be no problem overpaying on other loans
through either Easytouch or teller. (Specific example - 2nd Mortgage Equity
loan.)

643.16"overpay" principal every monthRANGER::VANVOORHISFri Sep 16 1994 11:259
We "overpay" our mortgage principal every month. The only time there
is a slight problem is if I make the payment within a couple of days of
receiving the bill. Then, the teller calls Maynard and something is
released and the payment goes through okay. Sometimes I play the
fifteen day buffer period and sometimes I don't -- all depends on the
cash flow. We also have an adjustable rate mortgage, which shouldn't
    make a difference.

Since I work in LKG, I do the transaction in person!!!!
