217.0. "MAC and DCU ATM cards" by FDCV10::RSWRK () Tue Jun 26 1990 15:13

Over the past few months, all of the ATM's I previously used have gone
from being Pocketbanks/Cirrus to MAC's (Money Access Center) and my
card from the DCU will not work in them. In fact, in most cases it
will keep my card and I have to go into the bank and fill out a long
form and give proof of my identity to get it back. (They still list
Pocketbank/CIRRUS on their sign but UNDER the MAC as if MAC had
    absorbed the other 2 networks).

Has anyone else experienced this and does anybody know if the DCU
plans to issue new cards that can be used with these MAC ATM's??

    Thanks,

Nancy (A very frustrated ATM user)

P.S. I probably should mention these ATM's are all located in NH.

I have been somewhat reluctant to use my Easy Cash 24 card in many locations.
I don't know where it is accepted ?
It says that it is good through 04/89, just noticed that.
It does still work at the DCU locations.

Think it is time for a call to the DCU.

Just talked to them
They calim that they send out replacement cards over a year ago.
I now have to fill out loss/stolen report.
The DCU ATMs do not have the capability to check Expiration dates but
others do and will retain the card.
217.2no expiration date on my cardFDCV10::RSWRKFri Jun 29 1990 23:156
Just checked my own DCU card and it doesn't have an expiration
    date that I can find.

Maybe it is time for ME to call the DCU.....

This past weekend I was successful in my attempt to use my DCU ATM
card in a MAC ATM (Fleet Bank?) in NH (Concord). The MAC ATM displays
the Cirrus logo as you said.

If you want a list of CIRRUS machines in any given area, call
1-800-4-CIRRUS. Be ready with the ZIP code of where you live
(for survey purposes) and where you need to know machine locations.
You will get a list of about 5 machines per call. I used this to
locate machines on a vacation trip and it was a lifesaver.

I've used my card at 'Pocketbanks', MAC, Cirrus. I've used it
in Boston, Philadelphia, Portland, ME., Derry, NH., and in Atlantic
City, NJ (guess why) I've used it in banks and grocery stores and
casinos. Never failed me yet......wished it had in AC. 8^)

         Response to 217.0

Approximately one year ago, the "POCKETBANK" ATM network
was replaced by "MAC." The MAC network requires a
direct connection from all institutions. This prohibits
us from offering other ATM network services to our
nationwide membership. Therefore, we are unable to add
         MAC as an affiliated network.

Currently, all ATM network locations marked by the
CIRRUS, EXCHANGE, TX AND YANKEE24 logos will allow
members access to their DCU accounts, 24 hours a day, 7
         days a week.

         Response to 217.1

DCU is now on-line with our affiliated ATM networks.
These networks include: TX, EXCHANGE, CIRRUS, and
         YANKEE24.

During 1989, DCU reissued new ATM cards (marked with a
"CIRRUS" logo) to replace expired cards marked with a
"MONEC," "POCKETBANK," or "PLUS" logo. These older
cards will not be accepted at the network machines or at
         DCU's Easy Cash24 machines.

Members with DCU Easy Cash24 ATM cards should check the
back of their card to confirm that the CIRRUS logo
appears. If a member needs a new card, please visit our
branch office or call our Member Service Center at
DTN/223-8444 or 508/493-8444. A new card will be mailed
         within a couple of days.

217.8Official DCU Response doesn't seem to make sense.UNXA::ADLERRich or poor, it's nice to have money.Thu Aug 02 1990 16:5113
Why does the requirement that all institutions connect to MAC prohibit
the offering of other ATM services at locations where MAC is not
available? Just make a connection available to them, that's all -- or
am I missing something? What does it have to do with other ATMs? Are
the card formats different? Does MAC cost more? My local bank (in New
Jersey) provides me with a MAC card that can be used at _any_ MAC ATM
for no fee of any type.

Isn't MAC now available in more places nationwide, anyway? If so,
shouldn't we be making ATM service available to the widest possible
    membership?
