856.0. "DCU in a Quantum facility?" by LEDS::GRAHAM () Mon Aug 01 1994 16:50

    Does anyone have any idea what'll happen to the DCU branch at SHR1 when
    Quantum takes over on Oct. 1st? I know that Quantum has a CU, but it's
    a lot smaller than DCU.

I don't have a clue, but if Quantum were to be interested in allowing them
to remain there, mightn't it make sense for them to do so, as they already
have a member-clientele on site to serve?

  I agree, I think it would be foolish for DCU to close this office unless
Quantum wants to use the space for its own credit union. I don't think it would
be a lot more difficult to have DCU facilities in a non-Digital plant, because
DCU is not part of Digital either.
  Please refresh my memory. Do SHR1 and SHR2 (the future Quantum facilities)
have a DCU office *and* ATM? And I know SHR3 has one or the other; do they
have both?

    re .2
    SHR1 (and SHR2, since the only way to get to SHR2 is through SHR1) has
    both an ATM and a DCU office. SHR3 has only an ATM.

    Remember when we, in here, were chatting about the SHR DCU office and
    ATM being consolodated? Now we know why!

re .4

But that never happened!

There is a ATM just before the guard desk in SHR1, but the office remains in the
center of the building along the main corridor.

There is construction going on in the lobby of SHR3. Unknown if it is for a DCU
office or claiming open area for conference rooms.

856.7DCU won't move funds from QuantumLEDS::GRAHAMWed Sep 21 1994 19:0111
    Since I'll be moving to Quantum, there's another issue that I'd like
    to mention. While I'll be able to deposit my pay to DCU, they won't
    be able to automatically move funds to the savings accounts of my
    wife & 3 kids. The way I have it now, a precentage goes into each
    of the savings accounts but after October 3rd, I'll have to go to a
    branch office and tell them to move so much into account X, so much
    into account Y etc. Since these are all separate individual accounts,
    I can't use EasyTouch. What a pain! Is there any other recourse for
    me?

    What are you getting at? That is standard for any employee who leaves
    digital and goes to work for another company....

    I interpreted it as saying: "As a DEC employee I have access to a DCU
    feature that I use regularly. As a non-DEC employee, I will no longer
    have access to that feature. If DCU is interested in keeping non-DEC
    employees as members, perhaps it should look into ways for making this
    feature (and others?) available to all members, regardless of their
    current employer."

856.10LEDS::GRAHAMWed Sep 21 1994 20:1813
    -1 stated my point exactly. I do business with another finacial
    institution that can automatically take funds from one account and use
    it to pay/deposit into others. I understand that DCU will be getting
    my net pay in another format, but so what? It's all electronic of one
    sort or another and from my perspective as a part-time programmer it
    doesn't seem like it'd be that much of a problem.

    I can't speak for the others here in SHR that are going to Quantum, but
    there must be at least several hundred others in the same boat. If so,
    I can forsee scores of us queuing up at the branch office or calling
    DCU every other Friday just to move some money around various accounts.

    Which feature? Easy touch? I interpret it as saying " I used to be able
    to have my funds transferred to each indvidual account automatically
    and now I can't. " People should consider themselves lucky that they
    are still able to keep their DCU account when they STOP working at digital.
    IMHO.

I wonder if DCU has looked into trying to become the CU for Quantum, if they
do not already have one. Seems like a logical association to have...

What? I've never heard of anyone being kicked out of a CU because they stopped
being an employee.

    .11 (and .13):

    Corporate bodies generally find a lack of growth (much less a
    shrinkage) life-threatening. On the other hand, such a policy would
    appear to fit well with some others that have effectively reduced
    DCU's penetration into what is a well-defined and exceedingly finite
    market...

856.17DCU at QuantumSCORN::STEVENSWed Oct 05 1994 14:303
In SHR, SHR-1 and SHR-2 were sold to Quantum. DCU has maintained its office in
SHR-1 which is now owned by Quantum.

re:.16

I hear that SHR3 employes do have access to DCU but have to be escorted since
they are now not in a Digital facility.

    Re: .18

    That is correct. Those of us Deccies who are still in (the former) SHR1
    must log in and out like contractors, and have special tape (which
    says "evidence", but I'm not paranoid) on our badges to indicate that
    we can be in the building without an escort.

    The tellers don't know how long they will be here or where they will
    be going, according to a recent inquiry by a coworker.

856.21DCU access at SHR1 is unacceptable!SUBSYS::WOJDAKWed Oct 12 1994 11:5819
       I used the DCU at SHR1 the other day and it is a ROYAL pain for
    DIGITAL employees.You have to first sign-in at Quantum and are given a
    visitor badge.Then the security guard must call the DCU and ask for an
    escort.I waited approx.5 minutes while the guard made repeated attempts to
    call the DCU,but the phone was busy (the guards made the remark that this
    had already happened a few times already.).At this point (about 4:20 and
    DCU closing time) I convinced the guard to let me walk to the DCU
    unescorted.The access to the DCU is a major inconvience and unacceptable
    to me.

      I called the DCU today and they have no plans to move a DCU to
    SHR3.If they could locate the office in the lobby,it would make it
    accessable without escorts and guard involvement.I stuck with the
    DCU through some tough times and now that the 3Gs are elected I would
    like to stay with the DCU,but easy access to a DCU office is a main
    concern of mine and without it, I will reconsider staying with the DCU.
