556.1Come on folks...ERLANG::MILLEVILLEFri May 22 1992 09:3710
One thing I have noticed in this conference is if DCU does something wrong, WOW,
the number of entries. If you have problems, fewer entries, but the problems
are at least exposed and possibly dealt with. But when GOOD news about some-
thing that DCU does is GOOD, PRACTICALLY NO COMMENTS!

Why is this? Why not give praise where praise IS due? Come on
	folks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is great that DCU has heard us and IS doing something to woo us back!
They wooed me back to refinance my wife's car.

    re .1

Well, I know that I've seen a positive change in the DCU lately and
I've let the people in the local branch know of my pleasure. I guess
I should've also complimented them in here, too. I think it's somewhat
human nature to not give compliments as much as to criticize.

    FWIW...
One thing I did notice about this notesfile is that it's less active
lately. I think in part due to most are waiting to give the new BoD
some time to get acquainted with their new job. There was one note
written on 20-May at 7:35 and almost 2 days later the next note was
written. Boy, you wouldn't have see that 2 day gap in notes about
    a month or 2 ago.

Just for kicks, I created an analysis program that took the directory of all
entries and replies and counted them for each month of each year.

Note: Some entries were dated prior to the start date of the Conference, so the
year was converted to '1987' (i.e. 'Jan 1976' would be counted as 'Jan 1987')
You can see the activity start in Aug of 91, peak in Nov, then peak again during
the election.

    RE: .4

Thanks for that interesting summary! I'll bet those activity peaks
correspond to past DCU activity that was not handled well and caught
the membership unaware. Hopefully those days are over. I certainly
intend to do my best to see that they are.

556.6...but not all other credit unionsGAUSS::HAINSWORTHBarking through my hatWed Jun 10 1992 20:2431
I have an account at Progressive Consumers Federal Credit Union. PCFCU was put
under NCUA (?) control about a year ago, and I think they still are. They are
not going under, however, and members can still get a checking account like
mine:

no monthly service fee

interest on balances of $15 or more (I don't know the rate)

overdraft protection up to $1500 (but probably at a high interest rate)

monthly statements with cancelled checks

no ATM fees at ANY ATM provided you maintain a minimum balance of $500 all
month (If your balance EVER dips below $500 during the month, you get hit
for 75-95 cents each for EVERY ATM transaction that month. I wish they
calculated this on AVERAGE balance -- that way I would be much less annoyed
when I got hit with fees).

no check writing fee

checks cost ~$9.00 for 200, but I think you can buy them elsewhere if you wish.

$12.50 for most check bouncing, stop check payment, etc. fees.

I don't know if this is a "loss leader" for PCFCU, but I do know that my primary
account has been there for about 8 years. If DCU could offer such service
without taking a big loss, I think that DCU participation would go way up.
