2099.0. "Moving mail to a local drawer." by KERNEL::BURDENI () Wed Apr 02 1997 07:36

    Using the EXCHANGE AND WORK ONLINE script.

    A user has a script to move mail to local draw when logging on, but if
    they logon at a PC which does not have the local draw, the message is
    moved off the server but gets lost. No warning appears that the transfer
    failed.

    Is this a bug/feature ? if so, are there any easy ways the
    script can be changed to incorporate error checking ? Shouldn't the
    transfer either create the local drawer on the PC or leave the
    message on the server ?

    Any thoughts and suggestions ?

It sure sounds like a bug. Perhaps you should enter a PTR. Can this
be reproduced with TL 2.7? I doubt if we'll fix it for 2.5 because
we stopped issuing ECOs for that release a long time ago.

2099.2Interesting ProblemTAMARA::laceup.zko.dec.com::tamara::fitzellIt's not a bug it's functionally challenged !Wed Apr 02 1997 15:5423
Does the PC they've moved to really not have a local file cabinet or is it
been moved from the selected list to the available list. Go into
Tlsetup->File Cabinets and take a look, if there's a Local file cabinet in
the Available list move it to the Selected list and you should find the
messages in the now visible File Cabinet. When you say that the user has
logged on to a different PC, did they use the office.ini which was on the
system or did they carry their own along?

	Feature

>>if so, are there any easy ways thescript can be changed to incorporate
>>error checking ?
	Because (if my guess is right) there was a Local FC available no
	errors were generated when accessing or moving the documents. To
	make sure that they do see errors check out their logging
	preferences in Scripts->Preferences

>>Shouldn't the transfer either create the local drawer on the PC or leave
>>the message on the server ?
	If an error is detected the action does not get performed.
