2097.0. "Another occurence of GPF in FCLIST.VBX" by UTRTSC::SMEETS (Workgroup support) Tue Apr 01 1997 10:59

Hi,

Customer running TeamLinks V2.5-ECO4 on Windows95 reports the following problem.

Secretary has ONE main drawer with some 65 folders (average of 10 documents per
folder).

Now she has created 5 additional folders. After sh exits from TeamLinks and
starts Teamlinks again she sees the following error.

X400MAIL caused a general protection fault
in module FCLIST.VBX at 0011:0000029b.

If she uses the Mailworks for DOS client or the Mailworks VT client than there's
no problem.

The same problem occurs if she uses a collegue's PC running TeamLinks V2.7.

GPF details:

X400MAIL caused a general protection fault
in module FCLIST.VBX at 0011:0000029b.

2097.1When does it happen ?XANADU::x400it.zko.dec.com::manana::roughtTue Apr 01 1997 14:257
Martin,

   At what point does the GPF occur ? When she invokes TeamLinks ?
When the drawer is opened ? When the folder is opened ? If it is
a folder, is it one particular folder or all of them ?

2097.2GPF during opening of maildrawerUTRTSC::SMEETSWorkgroup supportWed Apr 02 1997 08:397
Hi Dave,

The GPF occurs when she tries to open the MAIL drawer.

2097.3Time for a problem report.XANADU::x400it.zko.dec.com::manana::roughtWed Apr 02 1997 13:0616
Martin,

  Please submit a PTR for this problem. It is not a known problem.

  Please include a DR Watson log (DR Watson found on Windows 3.1 will
  catch TeamLinks GPFs when used on Windows 95). In .0 you stated that
  the customer could reproduce it on TeamLinks V2.7. Please have them use
  V2.7 to gather the information.

  Also have the customer include a list of the folder names found in the
  drawer. Anything unusual about the folder names (length, char, etc) ?

  Are there any other drawers in the user's list ? If there are, please
  have them include those also.

2097.4Not yet all resultsUTRTSC::SMEETSWorkgroup supportMon Apr 07 1997 17:2434
Hi Dave,

I haven't yet received all data from the customer but I've already some
results:

The customer is using a network installation of TeamLinks

1. The probleem seems user specific. It happens only to one user
2. The problem isn't PC specific. If the users uses TeamLinks on an other
   PC than the problem also shows up.
3. If someone else uses her PC than the problem doesn't show up.
4. If she logs on to TeamLinks when using someone else Windows95 environment
   than there is also no problem.

So it looks like the problem is user related and probably in the Windows95/
TeamLinks environment.,

There's also something strange with respect to her TeamLinks environment:

1. The user has more than 70 folders in the drawer
2. Some foldernames area extremly long and don't fit on the TeamLinks display,
    it looks like some foldernames are split in the middle of the name.
3. The Alphabetic order of the foldernames in the drawer is not correct.
   In Mailworks/DOS or Mailworks/VT the alphabetic order is correct, however
   in TeamLinks it isn't.

At the moment the user has created a second drawer and has moved some folder
from one drawer to the other.

I'm still waiting for the Dr. watson logfile.

Regards,

Martin
2097.5Combination of Server data and TeamLinks settings.XANADU::x400it.zko.dec.com::manana::roughtTue Apr 08 1997 21:0922
Martin,

  I am somewhat confused by 2 & 4. They seem to condrict each other:

>The customer is using a network installation of TeamLinks

>1. The probleem seems user specific. It happens only to one user
>2. The problem isn't PC specific. If the users uses TeamLinks on an other
   PC than the problem also shows up.
>3. If someone else uses her PC than the problem doesn't show up.
>4. If she logs on to TeamLinks when using someone else Windows95 environment
> than there is also no problem.

  I expect the problem lies with the content of her MailWorks cabinet combined with
her TeamLinks settings. Since the GPF is occurring in FCLIST which is strictly
TeamLinks UI, it is not suprising that other non TeamLinks clients can see the information
OK. If other TeamLinks clients can look at this drawer with no problem, then there
must be a TeamLinks setting which is not happy with the data from the Server.

2097.6I'm can imagine you're confusedUTRTSC::SMEETSWorkgroup supportWed Apr 09 1997 14:5811
Hi Dave,

>> I am somewhat confused by 2 & 4. They seem to condrict each other:

Yes, you're probably right after I read my note again I can imagine it's
confusing.

I think you're conclusion is correct and it's probably an user related Teamlinks
setting.

2097.8Log should help. Need a problem report.XANADU::x400it.zko.dec.com::manana::roughtFri Apr 11 1997 13:068
Thanks Martin, the log will be a big help in tracking down the problem.

Was this gathered with V2.7 or V2.5-004 ?

Before I can spend any time searching the code for the problem, I will need
you to submit a PTR or have the customer submit an IPMT.

Hi Dave,

I'll submit an IPMT case. The log is from a V2.5-ECO4 system.
