2034.0. "misleading contents in the inbox" by UTRTSC::SMEETS (Workgroup support) Wed Mar 05 1997 13:52

Hi,

Customer running TeamLinks V2.5 and V2.7 on Windows95 just reported a very
weird problem which was already observed three times (3 different users).

Maybe someone can help me.

At a given time one sees a number of mail messages in the inbox with a delivery
date and a subject per message. The number of mailmessages in the inbox is
correct however the subject and the delivery date indicate that these messages
belong to other folders in the drawer.

Closing the inbox and opening the inbox solved the problem.

Any idea what's happening here ?

A couple of questions:

 - If the user reads these messages, does the content agree with the displayed
title or is the content a new message that is different than the title ?

 - Do the users that reported the problem have rather large file cabinets ? If
they do, would they have had over 200 items (drawers, folders, documents) listed
   at any one time ?

We fixed a problem in V2.7-001 that may be what these users are experiencing. It
was very hard to reproduce, but the symptom was that what was listed was incorrect
in two ways. The first is the displayed items were not part of the object, for
example documents that were listed in the wrong folder. Second when opening the
incorrect object, the content did not agree with what was listed. The content is
actually is correct for what should have been listed. One of the criteria for the
problem to occur is the users total list of objects needed to exceed 200. This
includes all listed drawers and folders as well as documents.

2034.2Not in ECO #1XANADU::x400it.zko.dec.com::xanadu::ROUGHTWed Mar 05 1997 16:433
That should have been V2.7-002 (ECO #2 which has not yet been released).

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply !

As stated by yourself, the problem is difficult to reproduce and at the moment
we can not answer the above question. I've asked the customer to test this when
the problem occurs again.

Yes, all users who report the problem have more than 200 item showable.

When will ECO2 be available ?

Thanks,

Martin
