1981.0. "Users want text fonts back" by ACISS2::FLOYD () Tue Feb 11 1997 11:40

We are starting to deploy Teamlinks V2.7. The user's biggest complaint
is the lack of fonts in the create message windows when using "text".
They don't use Rich Text because a lot of mail packages don't
understand Rich Text. So, to keep from having to remember which users
can read Rich Text and which can't each time they create a message, the
sender just uses "Text". The general feedback from the user community
is that they didn't gain anything with Rich Text and lost features they
    liked in the previous version.

Are there any plans to put the text fonts back?

In Create Message Preferences (Options menu in Information Manager window)
there is a preference for also sending a text copy when sending a rich text
message ("Also Send a Text Version" check box under "Rich Text Cover Memo").
Will this satisfy users?

Why do users want to use different fonts when creating text messages, when
the recipients likely won't be able to see them...?

I assume you're talking about proportional and screen fonts?

V3, and I think V2.5 ECO2, will have a .INI file setting
that will allow proportional fonts supported by the printer
to be listed. This will result in you NOT being able to
do what-you-see-is-what-you-send.

Screen fonts (e.g. MS Sans Serif) are still not supported
by the 3rd party editor control, although reasonable lookalikes
such as Arial are usually available.

1981.3Loss of functionalityACISS2::FLOYDThu Feb 27 1997 11:488
Using option as in 1981.1 is not acceptable to the customer.
The customer was happy with the way Teamlinks for Windows V2.5 worked
in regards to font selection when creating a message. They are NOT
happy with the LACK OF font selection in the create message window of
Teamlinks for Windows V2.7 To them, a feature they really liked was
removed and is perceived as a step backwards.

Some users have refused to upgrade to V2.7 for this reason.

Possibly it will get fixed in V4 (It won't in V3).

Enter it in the PTR system?

That guest account doesn't appear to be
configured correctly, so don't bother to
enter a problem report yet. I'll update
the QAR note (11.*) with how to enter problems
after this gets resolved.

Thanks,
Jerry
