454.0. "Where can I get a HAM radio??" by STAR::NAMOGLU () Wed Dec 24 1986 12:24

    Hi,

    	My mother is looking for a ham radio to install on a new
    	sailboat that they are building. The supplier that they had
    	ordered one from, ran out of stock and are going to be getting
    	any more. So, she is looking for another supplier. If anyone
    	knows of any places that she could get a HAM radio, please
    	contact me. Either reply to this note, or mail me on
       	STAR::NAMOGLU.

    Thanks.

    Sherry.

    You would probably do well to ask on the ham radio Vax notes.
    They are krystl::hamradio.

    ICOM makes a nice SSB unit. There are some others. Skipper
    Marine Electronics has fair (as far as I am concerned) prices,
    fast delivery and good consumer policies . I dont have their
    number handy, but they may be advertising in the back of boat
    magazines.

    You might try TEL-COM in Littleton Mass on Rt 119 about 2 miles
    west of I495, or EGE, 8 Stiles Rd, Salem NH ph:603-898-3750. Both
    stores have helpful sales folks and reasonable inventories. EGE
    is also a large mail order discounter with the main store in
    Woodbridge,VA ph 703-643-1063.

    I have a Kenwood TS430S SSB transceiver in my boat and would recommend
    it or the newer TS440S.

    Thanks for all your responses. My father has narrowed it down to
    a couple of stores that were listed here and should be getting his
    HAM radio soon. He was really pleased with the places you listed
    as the prices were about $400 cheaper than the place from where
    he  originally planned on buying.

    Thanks again...
