747.0. "NH and Maine Moorings?" by CVG::MONTIVIRDI () Wed Feb 17 1988 17:22

    Does anyone out there know of any likely places to acquire
    a mooring, between Kittery and Camden?

Both Rockland and Rockport Harbors (esp Rockland) appear to have room
for additional moorings. You might try Knight Marine in Rockland.

747.2Try Harpswell!SPCTRM::BURRWed Feb 17 1988 21:3035
    There are several options for moorings in the Harpswell, ME area.
    Harpswell is the town which includes Orrs and Bailey Islands, Cundy's
    Harbor, and a good bit of the northern end of Casco Bay. It is
    a terrific area with good winds all summer, reasonably sheltered
    anchoarages not much fog, and easy access from north and south.
    Harpswell is about 25-30 minutes from Portland or about 2.5 hours
    from Boston. To locate it on the map, find Brunswick and Cooks
    Corner. From Cooks Corner, Harpswell is 10 miles SSE.

    As for moorings, there are lots of areas available. There are two
    or three yards in the area with space. Moorings at the yards rent
    for about $500-600 per year. In addition, there are a number of
    private moorings which are for rent. Areas I know of include:

           o Orrs and Bailey Island Yacht Club-here they include
             complimentary membership which permits the renter access
             to the dock and parking (but not use of the clubhouse)

           o Mackerel Cove - a nice sheltered cove with access via a
             town landing and parking area and a few places to tie
             up a dink

           o Cundy's Harbor - slightly up the New Meadows River with
             good protection, access, and the absolute best lobster
             shack anyplace this side of heaven.

    Most of the above places have moorings (ok for up to a 30 or so
    foot boat) which can be rented for as little as $150 per season!
    The way to find out more is to call Larry 'Sonny' Bailey who is
    the Harpswell Harbormaster. You will find him helpful, very
    knowledgable and a real straight shooter. His home phone number
    is 207-833-6402. He also has a number at the Town Hall (207-833-
    5771) but he is almost never there.

747.3This is 10 minutes closer than Cundy'sHPSTEK::SEIDNERMon Feb 22 1988 18:129
    You can also try Great Island Boat Yard. It is on Rt 24 S, about
    5 mi S of Cook's Corner. Bob and Marnee Small, (207)-729-1639.
    Mooring is (guessing) about $500-550, slip is $900 for the season.
    You may be waitlisted, but I am not sure. This marina is on the
    N end of Quahog Bay, as you go out S, you have some of the most
    "Maine-looking" scenery. 2 hrs 45 minutes from Sudbury, a little
    less from Boston.

747.4More in the Brunswick/Harpswell area.RANGLY::OKERHOLM_PAUFri Feb 26 1988 20:3714
    Not far from those mentioned in .2 & .3 is Paul's Marina on Mere
    Point in Brunswick. Its small but the owners, John & Judy Marsh
    try to make up for it in service and hospitality. I think they may
    have some moorings left if you contact them soon. Their home number
    off season is (207)582-2579 the Marina number is 729-9427 & 729-3067.

    Another Marina in the Harpswell area is Dolphin Marine on Basin
    Pt in South Harpswell Tel. 833-6000. I don't think that it has been
    mentioned yet.
