1227.0. "Bottom paints for fresh water" by BTOVT::JPETERS (John Peters, DTN 266-4391) Wed May 31 1989 15:46

    Does anyone use bottom paints for freshwater that don't contain the
    toxins necessary in salt water?

    What do you use

    o for fiberglass
    o for wood
    o for steel

    and how have they worked?

1227.1Try "Hard Racing"SHIRE::MEYERI'd rather be sailing & catching large troutsTue Jun 06 1989 16:2612
    For the last three years I have used Hard Racing from International
    Paints (I think) on a fiber glass hull, on lake geneva, & it has
    been excellent. For the last two years I have only had to sponge
    off the green slime, but no weeds at all, & the boat is in the water
    all year round.

    However next week, I'm going to do the A/F again, & look out for
    the dreaded pox, which I am told 80% of softwater boats suffer
    from....

1227.2Yes, but...BTOVT::JPETERSJohn Peters, DTN 266-4391Thu Jun 08 1989 14:555
    re -1, that's just the point. I would prefer NOT to pollute Lake
    Champlain with the toxins built into marine paints. There's a reason
    nothing grows on your hull...
