| I have my boat on the Lago Maggiore, not too far away from Garda.
This are mountain lakes and have different wind patterns then the sea.
Wind is usually when the weather is nice and sunny. Force 7 is
not unusual and starts around 11 in the morning and dies at 5 in the
evening. No wind on a rainy day.
You have a north-foehn and a south-foehn. The windforce is open ended
during Foehn (up to 140 km/h, sometimes more) and very unstable in
direction and force. The northfoehn is cold and blowes when its raining on
the other sides of the alpes. The air is absolut clear.
Southfoehn is very dangerous, but blowes only twice a year or so.
Early summer is the best time (June/July), no wind during summer, only
thunderstorms and almost no wind from November to March. (Lago
Maggiore)
The Garda lake is more windy then the Lago Maggiore and is THE
windsurfing center in Europe.

| Jose,
I might have some detailed information on winds of lake garda (north part, Riva
and Torbole) on hardcopy. I will try to find it and if i do send a copy to you.
What kind of boat are you going to use. Most of the restaurants are okay, but
this area is not the cheapest part of Italy. Some of the hotels try to let you
pay in german marks.
Do not go in July or August. for sailing in the northern part. You can walk from
Torbole to Riva by stepping from one surfboard on to another.
