381.0. "Looking for Weather Reports" by DONJON::DELUCO () Fri Aug 08 1986 18:45

Besides the weather report phone number, are there other places
to get a good maritime forecast? Is there a radio or TV station that
    broadcasts continual reports?

Our cable company, American Cablevision, I think, runs the a weather
tape on inactive channels. It sounds like the NOAA broadcasts on
W1 and W2. Assuming you have cable (Doesn't every town have it now!!
:<) ) you might rty there.

I think there's a number you can call for the aviation forecast
which might behelpful. How tall is your mast?

IF YOU HAVE CABLE TV, CH 31 IS NOAA WEATHER. CH 30 IS U.S. WEATHER

There are marine weather forecasts -- there are no good marine weather
forecasts.

For NOAA forecasts of the Narragansett Bay and South of Cape Cod
    area, call 1-401-738-1211.

    * Its a tape of the broadcasts on the W2 channel. Repeats every
    5 minutes or so.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GENERIC MARINE FORCAST. YOU COULD TRY THE
VTX SERVER. GO INTO THE AP NEWS SECTION, THEN NEW ENGLAND, THEN
WEATHER. USUALLY THERE IS A WEATHER REPORT, A 1-2 DAY FORCAST, AND
A 3-5 DAY OUTLOOK. ON ONE OF THEM WILL BE THE MARINE FORCAST FOR
    THE DAY.

MAY NOT BE UP TO THE EXACT MOMENT, BUT WHEN THINKING OF CUTTING
OUT EARLY, OR LOOKING UP THE WEEKEND WEATHER ON FRIDAY. THIS IS BETTER
THAN LISTENING TO DICKIE RAMBLE ABOUT THE STARS ON TV.
