1258.0. "Free: J36 Interior Cushions" by LANDO::STONE () Thu Jun 22 1989 17:47

    Free boat interior cushions. For a J36. These cushions were removed
    from the boat BAD COMPANY 2 days before she sunk last fall. The owner
    has no use for them now and would just as soon give them away.

    If interested, please call Don O'Neil days at (508) 689-0775.

1258.1A happy ending?TOOK::CURRIERThu Jun 22 1989 18:324
    O yes, I got a hole by hole description of that disaster. Is the BAD
    COMPANY being replaced? Did their insurance co. also suggest that
    boats really shouldn't be in the water that late in the season?

re .1:

Most insurance policies specify the date by when the boat must be out of
the water. Was the boat even covered?

    Good heavens, What Happened?

    Will the cushions fit into a Pearson Coaster 30 foot?

    re: .1 The HMS BAD COMPANY required a crane to be pulled from the
    + .2 water and was trucked to a local (Newburyport) boat yard
             where it was stripped of topside hardware, boom, mast, + keel.
             The rest of the boat was placed in an industrial-sized
             dumpster.

             Insurance covered everything. In fact, given the depressed
             market, he made out better than if he were to try to sell the
             boat. He beat the haul-out clause by one week. My boat
             suffered significant damage two weeks prior to his (at the
             same location). We both are insured by the same agency (Twig
             Burke) and I have had very good service as well. *This is
             not a paid endorsement.*

             Right now he is "kicking tires" and looking at options. One
             of the areas of interest is downsizing to a J24 or 22 and
             going the one design route. (We'll miss the Corinthian 200,
             though.)

    re:.3 I do not know if the cushions would fit anything other than a
             J36.

1258.5J/36 a dying breed ...BOOKS::BAILEYBplaying to the tideFri Jun 23 1989 18:4310
    Very sorry to hear about the demise of BAD COMPANY. The J/36 is a
    dying breed. Last season there were five of us out there. Now CELESTE
    is in Michigan, BAD COMPANY is in the dumpster, and I haven't seen
    UNION since it was sold. We're wondering if there are going to be
    enough of them to make a fleet for the NOOD regatta. Another J/36 that
    was down there last year sank in one of those late season storms.

    Hi . I'm just curios as to what storm Bad Company went down in?
    I had my boat "Rainbow Chaser" in Newburyport at the Boat Works
    last year and tried to get my lobster traps out the day after the
    early Oct blow. The one where the Hinkley went up on Plum by the
    old C.G. Station.

    Was that the same storm?
