I have a customer who, when running dce_login from a non-root account,
receives
the following error:

DECthreads Last Chance handler: thread 1 exiting on status exception
0x177db005
Exception: Invalid memory address (dce / thd)
Abort process

They are running:

Digital DCE V2.0a (Rev. 519) for Digital UNIX
Digital UNIX V4.0 (Rev. 386) with Patch OSF400-106

Are they not setting up something right? Is this a bug? Has anyone seen this

before and do you have a solution?

Thanks.

	Does it work for the "root" account? Is SIA enabled?

	I have not seen this. The earlier OS patch required a kernel
	rebuild. Please check and see if the OSF400-106 also requires
	a kernel rebuild and if so make sure that it has been done.

2164.3SIA is enabledNETRIX::"scott@dwarf.wro.dec.com"Scott FafrakThu Feb 27 1997 15:498
Mustie,

Yes, they are running with SIA. I will check that the patch revision requires

a kernel rebuild, and whether or not they have done so.

2164.4root account works fine.NETRIX::"scott@dwarf.wro.dec.com"Scott FafrakThu Feb 27 1997 15:516
Yes, they can run fine from the root account, but only from the root account,
and that is not satisfactory.

2164.5Check permissions in /opt/dcelocal/var/security/credsNETRIX::"rahman@dhaka.lkg.dec.com"MustieWed Mar 05 1997 16:3115
	Hi,
	   Please check the permission bits for the directory

		/opt/dcelocal/var/security/creds

	It should be as follows:

drwxrwxrwt   2 root     system      8192 Mar  5 13:27
/opt/dcelocal/var/security/creds/

	Also, I assume that there is enough space in /opt/dcelocal/
	which usually resides under /var/.
