270.0. "DEC products in 'C' ???" by WARNUT::GALLACHERM () Fri Mar 16 1990 14:37

    { Cross posted in VAXC conference }

    I have a corporate customer who is writing a working paper on the use of
    'C' in development areas.

    He/she has invited comment from AT&T, IBM and DEC on what they "think"
    of the C language. After an initial meeting the customer requested in
    what application areas Digital have used C - ie. what products have we
    written in C internally ???

    I am looking for a list of about six "varied" Digital products that have
    been implemented in C (Ultrix software products included) and of why C
    was the chosen implementation language.

    Any help appreciated,

    Thanks,

    Mark

A product that just shipped is PDP-11 C. In the case of a compiler product,
there are many good reasons to write the compiler in its own language.
