233.0. "PARTY: Bridal Shower Buffet" by ENGGSG::WILKIN () Thu Mar 06 1986 18:23

    Hi, I would like to hear from anyone who might offer some suggestions.

    I am planning a bridal shower for my sister. Its in May and there
    will be approx. 50 woman there. I'm looking for menu suggestions.
    I don't want to have the usual cold cuts and salad stuff but I do
    want to have it buffet style.

    All suggestions will be appreciated.

233.1< what are the guidelines?>SHEILA::BRYDENMon Mar 10 1986 18:1915
    Hi, more than willing to give you a hand but could you give a bit
    more in the way of guidelines.
    eg:
    1) do you want hot dishes, not knowing your location it is hard
       to guess what the temps might be.
    2) is there anything you don't want included eg, seafood, curries
       etc
    3) what sort of price structure are you working to
    4) will the function be inside or outside? stand-up or sit down?
    5) are there any special diet considerations eg vegetarians, low/no
       salt, no seafood this might alter the balance of the menu
    6) any restrictions on preparation time eg are you doing all the
       preparation and how "fiddly" do you want the presentation to be?

233.2To answer 233.1ENGGSG::WILKINWed Mar 12 1986 17:559
    I answer to 233.1:
   	 I'm looking for crock pot main dishes, cold dishes,
    easy appetizers that can be made ahead of time, and some kind of
    punch (prefer no alcohol).
    	 The shower will be indoors at a hall in Mass.
    	 Some of the ladies are on low salt diets.
    	 The price structure is middle of the road (I have help with
    the expense and preparation) but no caviar.

233.3Hot and cold foods for buffetOZ::TRUBIANOThu Mar 13 1986 18:2411
    The sky is the limit as far as variety. You could have meatballs,
    fried rice, stuffed cabbage, stuffed peppers,and hot chicken thighs
    in your crock pots or casserole dishes.

    Other ideas would be marinated vegetables, stuffed mushrooms,
    quich, deviled eggs, stuffed celery, stuffed dates, and marinated
    chicken pieces(boneless).

    Hope this helps.

    Mary
