3429.0. "tupperware problems?" by MRCSSE::JACOBSON () Tue Jan 21 1992 17:51

I have heard a rumor that Tupperware is going out of business.
Does anyone know if this rumor is true?

If that were true, my mother would have called me and told me to
order everything that I'll ever want - She's been selling tupperware
on and off for over 20 years.

    ....but, she hasn't!

I had read or heard somewhere recently that Tupperware was going to
change their traditional selling approach (slowly over time) away from
the 'home party' to more catalog sales. The change was apparently
prompted by changing lifestyles, specifically more two-worker
households that made daytime Tupperware Parties less and less
    practical.

That is not true, tupperware is not going out of business. If it were,
I would already be having withdrawal symptoms. My friend sells it, and
I always have a catalog at my desk. We never have parties anymore,
due to lack of time and trying to organize that many people to
one specific time. Everyone just looks at the catalog, lets me know
what they want and I place the order. Alot easier, and less hassle.

Plus, my friend has an easier time, since she doesn't have to do the
    demonstrations.

I glad to hear that they are still in business. I found it hard to
believe that such a well established company would under, but the
times are bad.. Thanks for your replies

re:.2 I just talked to my girlfriend who is a Tupperware manager. She
said the article about them switching formats to more catalog sales
wasn't true either. They have lots of alternative "parties", 30-minute
parties, workplace parties, etc. but there is no truth to the rumor
that they're going out of business or dropping the party format.

One relatively recent change in Tupperware is that they'll send you
your order through UPS now. It used to be that the dealer had to
come by and drop the stuff off. I guess there was too much frustration
trying to meet up with folks during their busy schedules!

RE: -1

Sharon, Tupperware is working towards "Tupper Express". That is when they ship
directly to your home. Unfortunately this is only available in certain areas,
this currently isn't being offered in Mass yet. I can't wait until it is since
that will save me from sorting, packing and delivering boxes to tupperware
hostesses. This program has been implemented in several stages. A couple of
years ago Tupperware started accepting checks, made out to the local
distributors; Phase 2, they started accepting Mastercard, Visa and Discover;
Phase 3, the Handling charge; and Phase 4, will be shipping directly to each
person who orders.

Tupperware is still a "home party plan" and can only be ordered through parties.
If that changes I'll let you know, but I tend to doubt it. Tupperware wants
to have close contact with those who buy the product, that way they can answer
questions and take replacement parts since the products are warrantied for
life against normal wear.

I've been a tupperware consultant for the last 5 years, so if you have any
more questions or hear any more rumors you want checked out let me know.

Well I just went to a tupperware party last Thursday night and they
have a new color out is is "NEON" and only certan pieces of tupperware
come in the Neon color. I ordered the sippie cups, they are neon
orange with neon yellow seals. The little wonders also come in neon
yellow. They also have a new set of canisters that have new seals.
They are not the ribbied seals but a flat seal that works the same way
as the ribbed ones did. They were getting alot of complants about the
ribbed ones so they switched. They also don't sell the new set of salt
and pepper shakers cuase people have been complaining that they can't
get them opend to refill them.

The tupperware lady did not say anything about tupperware going out of
business. But she was pushing the parties. The one I went to was a
slipper party and one lady booked a "nitie" party from her. She had a
book of different parties that you can book and she passed it around
while she was pushing the parties.

It was alot of fun, I enjoy going to these cause you get out of the
house and away from the kids for a few hours.

Liz (who has a whole cabinit full of tupperware)

3429.9Rosti containersPENUTS::DDESMAISONSWed Jan 06 1993 19:5116
Didn't want to start a new topic for this, so....

Has anyone else heard of Rosti clear plastic containers?
They come in varying sizes, all rectangular in nature, I believe,
with different colored lids. A friend is looking for more of
them, and while Williams-Sonoma carries some Rosti products,
they may have only one size of these containers and they won't
give out information as to how to contact Rosti directly (something
	about protecting their suppliers (!??)).

	Anyone seen them anywhere else?

	Thanks,
	Di
