3189.0. "Ravioli" by TPS::JOHNSON (Steven Johnson's Mom) Sun Aug 18 1991 00:17

    Hi,

I am hoping someone can help me. I am hosting a birthday
dinner party for my Dad next Saturday and we wanted to
include HOMEMADE raviolis as one of the courses.

Of course, I don't have the time, nor the equipment
to make these, so I was looking for a store/Italian
speciality shop maybe, that would carry these.

I live in Milford, MA and work in Littleton. I'm
willing to travel about 30 minutes from either location.

The usual local stores don't have them in stock and
don't expect to have any by next weekend!

Any help you could provide would be appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Linda

p.s. Joe Grillo if you're out there, maybe you have
    	  some ideas?

    Try Monty's grocery in Leominster.

Let me give you a couple of places to try in Milford: Sabatino's on
Water St, and Oliva's Market on East Main St.

Thanks, we tried Oliva's but they don't have them. I think
it's probably because of the Catering business they're in now.

    Sabatino's might have them though.

    Keep those ideas coming!

    Linda,
I highly suggest you try PASTALAND in Leominster. It is owned and
operated by an ex-Didital employee and his pasta is outstanding. If
you feel Leominster is too far I would be glad to pick some up and
bring it to the HLO facillity in Hudson where you could get it. If
this idea appeals to you simply give me a call a -508-568-4141 or
       5656.
                                                kevin h.

Thanks to everyone for pointing me in the right direction
    (Leominster) to find homemade raviolis!

On my way to Monty's Pasta Co. I passed "Pastaland"
suggested by Kevin and dropped in...figured I give a
ex-fellow Deccie some business. Unfortunately, the
meat ravioli was sold out...(Kevin I couldn't reach you
    at the number you left)

Monty's since it is a bigger operation and more commercialized,
had everything I could have imagined and more. Thanks for that
    recommendation.

Meanwhile for those of you located in the Metrowest area.
I hear that there's a new pasta store called "Anthony's Pasta"
in Ashland near the new Market Basket store. I didn't find
this out until I returned from Monty's.

this notesfile has such a wealth of information! Thanks
    to all!

    Linda

p.s. Blueberry-Apple Crumb Pie from this notesfile is for dessert!

Another possible choice, definitely worth trying
is Via Lago - with two locations
    1) Mass Ave in Lexington Center
    2) Mass Ave (near the corner of Lake Street)
       in Arlington.

They make fresh ravioli (usually there are three
or four varieties - a plain cheese, a basil, and
a tomatoe) as well as fresh pasta cut to your
liking, home made sauces, fresh bread, and
lots of other accoutrements. The problem with
the ravioli is that I need an extra 5 or 6
otherwise there wouldn't be enough for a meal.

Pastable in Westford is another place that is suppose to be pretty
good. I haven't been there yet, but an ol' Deccie's son owns it.
It's right on Rt. 110 in the new shopping area.
