471.0. "Interview on Radio Berkshire." by KERNEL::OFFSY1::WEST () Wed Mar 01 1995 13:19

  Is anyone in this conference or friends interested in expressing there
views on Radio Berkshire.

  I have just been speaking to Richard Williams the presenter of Radio
Berkshires sports programs and he is looking for someone who attends
football games other than at Reading.

  The idea behind the interview is that the Reading chairman John Madeski
is always complaining that alot of people from the Berkshire area travel up
to London to see Chelsea, Spurs etc.. rather than support there local team.

  What Richard wants to do is get one of these fans to come along to Elm
Park this weekend, watch the Royals, Savour the atmos and greasy hot dogs
and then explain where we are going wrong. Is it the facilities,
atmosphere, or level play etc...

   If interested please ring me on 7833 X 3445

                       or mail me  kernel::west

               Cheers Mark.

471.2The benifits of a new stadiumKERNEL::OFFSY1::WESTFri Mar 03 1995 20:3312
  Nice try Tim but knowing are local radio station apart from your ticket
being paid for, you would be lucky if got a soggy burger at halftime out of
them :-)

  As no one has taken me up on the offer of their fifteen minutes of fame.
perhaps I could open the question up for debate in this conference. If
"local" teams such as Reading Invested the money in a new stadium and the
facilities that go with that, Would this stop the migration of football
fans to the premiership clubs?

   cheers Mark.

    No.

    I wouldn't change allegance on the basis of a new stadium. On team
    performance maybe... 8^(
