Well DEl, I better reply to this note of yours as I can't see anyone
else giving a hoot about Hamilton Quackies.

Away the lads, Ayr boys here, Ayr boys there etc, etc.
274.2 Away the RedsAYOV14::DKEARYThu Nov 26 1992 12:382

Douglas Park MAY have the best decorated dressing room in the
league, but there's no doubt Douglas Park is the worst ground
in the Scottish League. I wouldn't let a dog do it's business
there in case it caught something nasty!!!

     Danny.

    re What a midden

I have to concede that Douglas Park is a far cry from the San Siro
but if its good enough to attract a glamour pre season friendly with
the might of Rangers then it is certainly good enough for the likes of
    Ayr or Killie.
I think I detected the hint of sour grapes from a disgruntled Ayr fan.
I also have to point out the cheaper entry fee than most grounds as
well as the away the away support getting a better view

274.6Whit view...?MADBAS::DSMITHONE THOMAS BROLIN...Thu Nov 26 1992 14:5811

Rangers have played most of their pre-season friendlies in recent
years against the smaller Scottish clubs, hardly a glamour game.

There's no such thing as a good view at Douglas Dump, so it's not
very fair to say that away supporters have a better view.

Sour grapes, disgruntled, I think not. After all, it's only a game.

    Danny.
274.7Proud to be an ACCIEAYOV17::DKEARYThu Nov 26 1992 16:4312
That was a sweeping statement and a half, the last year their pre-season
friendlies included "smaller Scottish clubs" like Coventry,Sparta
Rotterdam,Kimarnock and Marseille so hush my mouth.
As for the view at Douglas Park ,in my opinion it is a far superior
view than the likes of Meadowbank and Cowdenbeith so we will just have
to agree to differ on this point.
Anyway it's what the team does on the park that is important to me as I
would prefer to support a good team in a crap stadium as apposed to
a reasonable stadium with team that props up most of the Division 1.
Just think if David Murray had got his way we would never of heard of
    Rangers.

274.8MADBAS::DSMITHONE THOMAS BROLIN...Thu Nov 26 1992 17:2712

Aye, but the point I was trying to make is that Rangers, under Walter
Smith have been sending teams (1st, reserves, youths etc) to play at
many different grounds in the country. I was not talking about Rangers
    home games.

     Danny.

ps you should realise by now you watch a crap team in a crap stadium!!

well noted but as I,m sure you'll appreciate that I have been heckled
by professionals and this is just water off a ducks back.

Your comments would have carried more authority had you supported one
of the better Scottish teams but since it's the mighty whites then I
really don't think you should really say ACCIES are crap -its a bit

his famous impression of a submarine as the last time these two clubs
met you would have thought he was wearing roller skates rather than
    football boots

Another thing he never learned that from Hamilton, its the company he's
    been keeping lately.

Georges' performance for Killie during our last encounter resulted in
two GENUINE penalty claims which were unfortunately squandered.

Giorgi is a seasoned pro and tripped over nothing but a blade of grass
to earn the undeserving Killie two penalties.

I'm going to stick my neck out and predict an away win for the Accies
with a likely scorer coming from ex-Killie man Trevor Smith.

The ref and the two linesmen should have been booked by the
Dumbarton Police for impersonating match officials.I thought
Andrew Waddle was the worrst ref the SFA had but it seems as though
there is a new challenger in the form of Bill Crombie who made some
of the weirdest descisions I have ever saw.
To be fair to Dumbarton they deserved their point but Tuesdays night's
game against Killie will be all the more difficult without the presence
    of Billy Reid.
There's a long way to go and hopefilly Accies will be up there
challenging to the end.The Squirrels had a less than impressive win
against Stirling so I'm no too worried just yet.

Good result on Tuesday night's rescheduled match a convincing 2-0 with
goals coming from Cramb and Harris. It is hard to believe that was the
team that beat Raith because they didn't press very much even when they
    were behind.
We now look forward to the B&Q cup final against Morton at Love

Going by their last performance against the Bankies we will win but we
are lacking in consistency so it will be tight.I hope Mahood does not

    Del,

Seen Hamilton twice (1-1,1-1) and Morton once (0-2), I don't
think there is much between the teams although I would say Morton have
better players in Mathie and Alexsander .Mortons main weekness is at
full back and if McDonald is on his game he could give them trouble.
Hamilton's main threat will come from that Killie reject Smith if he
plays .Their main weekness is their lack of flair, much like Utd the
Accies are a workman like team who need a 100% team effort to do well.
I think it will be a draw after 90 mins , then the 'Ton will
have too much power up front....2-1 MORTON......

P.s thanks for Ray McGuigan, doing a great job for us!!!

    Sal,
Ray McGuigan is a good player and I fear he won't be the last to leave,
watch out for the departure of Craig Napier and Kenny Ward who no
matter how well they play don't get a game. But don't fear Munro has
enlisted the talents of Gordon Rae who is due to return after a nasty
    injury(pity it wasn't fatal)
How is Paul Burke doing ,he is my mate's younger brother?

The young lad Burke lasted only 45 mins of his debut, has he
nearly had his leg broken playing against one of the dirtiest teams in
    the league.
He has been training now for a couple of weeks and should
start playing in the reserves soon.He looked quite a good player but
    perhaps a little small.

    Sal ,
I was at that game and the thing his brother said was that he went
over on his ankle while falling over a blade of grass and nearly ripped
    his tights.
I was in the same school team as him but he was a wee bit better
    than me.
Although he is small he is very stocky and is not pushed off the
ball too easily,he's probably too good for the mighty whites!
We were in the stand that day courtesy of Craig Napier comps which
saved 3 of us a total of 18 quid(gon the Naps)

go to extra time for our victory. Still can't imagine us losing though,
so seeing as this is your note, I'll be kind and just predict a 3-1
    victory to the mighty Ton.

Thanks for the prediction mate. You have to feel a wee bit sorry for
the mighty TON as they lost one of the best players in the 1st division
within 5mins of the final starting.Had Alan Mahood played it would have
been a much better game but as for Alex Mathie ,I wasn't overly
impressed by him. Rowan Alexander was tremendous ,always a threat and
    took both his goals well.
I'm delighted to see the ACCIES win all the same and I think
deservedly so ,considering Paul McDonald hit the post with a free kick
and also Kenny Ward's effort cleared off the line .credit to Morton for
    making it an excellent final.
Now I hope you can do some damage to Killie's promotion hopes when
    you play them.
