Anybody want to discuss 'homeboy' ?

Seems to mean 'bumpkin' or 'yokel'

The way I understand it, homeboy means "someone from the same home turf
    as me."

I've never heard it that way. First usage I encountered
was in "48 Hours," when the bartender in the Black club
called Nick Nolte 'home' (-boy being implied). Definitely
    not a friendly term.

    It's become common since then.

"Homeboy" is like 737.1 said it when the same guy is from the same town
    you grew up in.
